  • Publication number: 20200314503
Abstract: Correlated quality-of-experience (QoE) and latency measures are generated at a plurality of monitoring points along a multimedia delivery chain including multiple video operations. At each of the plurality of monitoring points, an absolute QoE measure defined on a human perceptual quality scale for media content is computed, and one or more of content extraction or feature extraction on the media content are performed. To a common middleware from each of the plurality of monitoring points, the respective QoE measure and results of the one or more of content extraction or feature extraction are transmitted. Computing and updating an absolute QoE measure for each of the plurality of monitoring points is performed. Computing and updating latencies between multiple monitoring points at the middleware using the results from each of the plurality of monitoring points is also performed.

  • Patent number: 10701102
Abstract: A secure hardware-based module or Security Electronic Control Unit (SECU) for a Controller Area Network (CAN) prevents an attacker from sending malicious messages through the CAN bus to take over control of a vehicle. The SECU shares a unique key and counter with each ECU on the CAN bus. When a legitimate ECU sends a message, it first compresses the message and then generates a MAC of the counter and a secret key. The counter is increased by one for each transmitted message. The ECU then fits the compressed message and the MAC into one CAN frame and sends it onto the CAN bus. The SECU performs the message verification on behalf of the intended receiver(s) of the message. If the verification passes, the receiver(s) simply decompress the message and use it as a normal CAN message. If the verification fails, the SECU will corrupt the CAN frame before it is fully received by the intended receiver(s). The corrupted CAN frame will be ignored by the intended receiver(s) as if it was never received.

  • Publication number: 20190370408
Abstract: Mechanisms to modify a dataflow execution graph that processes a data stream. An intermediate dataflow execution graph is used during modification of the dataflow execution graph from one configuration (the old dataflow execution graph) to the next (the new dataflow execution graph). Data messages of the data stream may continue to feed into the intermediate dataflow execution graph, thereby reducing latency and maintaining throughput during reconfiguration of the dataflow execution graph. Control message(s) that are structured to accomplish the reconfiguration is/are also passed into the intermediate dataflow execution graph during reconfiguration. As the control message(s) are all processed by the intermediate dataflow execution graph, the intermediate dataflow execution graph assumes the topology of the new dataflow execution graph.

  • Patent number: 10165281
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and system for objective video quality assessment. The objective video quality assessment approach automatically predicts human visual quality assessment behaviors in evaluating videos that contain artifacts generated during video acquisition, storage, reproduction, compression, transmission, processing, and/or display. The present method and system computes a five-dimensional quality map of a video being assessed, where the map indicates the local quality variations of the video in a five-dimensional space, which includes two spatial dimensions, one scale dimension, one time dimension, and one distortion type dimension. The present method and system may use one or a combination of device and viewing condition parameters in the generation of the quality map, and in the combination of the quality map into a scalar or vector-values measure that indicates quality aspects of the test videos.
