  • Patent number: 8623504
Abstract: Particles of a polysaccharide derivative, having at least one substituent with conjugated unsaturated bonds and exhibiting an index of refraction in excess of 1.50 and a method for the production thereof. In the method, the raw-material is suspended in an organic solvent to form a suspension, which is contacted with an organic reactant comprising a residue with conjugated unsaturated bonds; the raw-material and the organic reactant are reacted to form a derivative exhibiting ester or ether bond between the raw-material and the residue with conjugated unsaturated bonds; the polysaccharide derivative is dissolved in a solvent to form a solution; and the solution is contacted with a non-solvent to precipitate particles of the polysaccharide derivative. The invention provides lightweight, optically improved organic pigments and fillers based on renewable resources and which are recyclable by combustion or composting.

  • Patent number: 7288291
Abstract: A film is formed on a planar surface by applying a granular layer on the planar surface by using electrostatic forces, and then finishing the granular layer to form the film. A converting line may be rebuilt to have devices employing this method. A multilayer sheet-like product comprising a film layer may be produced.

  • Patent number: 7186444
Abstract: A powdery layer is formed on a first side of a web (W) which serves as a substrate by applying electrically charged particles on the web while a rotating grounding electrode is located at a second side of the web.

  • Patent number: 7186445
Abstract: A method for preliminary treatment of particles of a powder in a dry surface treatment process before applying the powder particles on a surface of a substrate by utilizing an electric field created by electrodes. The Electrodes are located at opposite sides of the substrate in such a way that at least one first electrode is located at the side of the substrate to be coated, and at least one second electrode is located at the opposites side of the substrate. The particles of the powder are pre-charged before bringing them into the electric field.

  • Patent number: 7018680
Abstract: A continuous web having a first surface and a second surface is coated with a coating powder by allowing the web to move between a first and a second electrode, which are in different potentials and are located on the opposite sides of the web, applying the coating powder on the surface of the web by utilizing the difference in the electric potential, and finishing the coated surface of the web. Both surfaces of the web are coated essentially simultaneously by using oppositely charged electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20060057302
Abstract: The surface of a web is coated with a dry coating powder. The coating powder has inorganic material and polymeric binder material. The polymeric binder material is selected in such a manner that when increasing the temperature above the glass transition temperature the ratio G?/G? is at the most equal to the ratio G?/G? in the glass transition temperature.

  • Publication number: 20050123678
Abstract: The surface of a continuous web, the fibrous portion of which consists of papermaking fibres, is coated with a coating powder. The web is allowed to move between electrodes, which are in different potentials. A coating powder of inorganic material and polymeric binder material is applied on the surface of the web by utilizing the difference in the electric potential. The coated surface of the web is then finished. The coating powder comprises 10.1-99.5 wt.-% of inorganic material. A dry surface treated sheet material is thus formed.
