Abstract: A system (1), and method for cleaning sand, which system (1) is a modular system and comprising at least a cleaning module (2). The cleaning module (2) comprising a cleaning apparatus (22) comprising an oven (5), and a cooling drum (6). The system (1) is configured to thermally clean the sand in the heated oven (5), remove gases and fine fraction from the thermally cleaned sand, cool the thermally cleaned sand in the cooling drum (6), and remove gases and fine fraction from the cooling drum (6).

Abstract: In the disclosed solution, a method is described for producing sand used in industry, in which method dis-carded power plant and/or foundry sand is processed into sand for use in products of the construction industry and/or into foundry sand by means of pre-treatment, drying, and after-treatment. In addition, an apparatus is described for producing sand used in industry, and use of discarded power plant and/or foundry sand in products of the construction materials industry or in foundry industry.
