  • Publication number: 20180181705
Abstract: An aspect of the present invention is a computer executable method for characterizing, e.g. for diagnostic purposes, utilizing a reference database, a query sample based on the measurements of biological components. The method is characterized in that it comprises the steps of calculating an expression match score (EM-score) indicating the likelihood of having the component level observed in the query sample in each of the sample categories of the reference database, calculating for the components of the sample, using e.g. the EM-score, tissue specificity score (TS-score), that expresses how uniquely a component identifies the query sample as belonging to a certain sample category, calculating, utilizing e.g. the TS-score, overall similarity of the sample in relation to a tissue category of the reference database, and storing at least some resulting characterization data to a memory device or outputting the data to an output device of a computer.

  • Publication number: 20160259882
Abstract: Techniques for estimating genomic health of a sexually reproducing organism. Stored information on hereditary diseases is used to determine a risk for each disease for allele combinations in a specimen, and to determine a degree of severity, wherein the risk and severity are commensurate. For each hereditary disease a risk is determined for the specimen to have the disease from the from the specimen's genotype; a default risk is assigned, if the hereditary disease exhibits Mendelian inheritance and if the specimen is a carrier of the disease. The risk for the hereditary disease is multiplied by an expansive function (e.g., square) of the severity. A statistically representative value of the multiplied risks is calculated, replacing zero values with marginal finite values if the expansive function cannot process zero values.

  • Patent number: 8635317
Abstract: An approach is provided for providing uniform content management for a user equipment. A uniform content management platform determines new content from a plurality of content of different categories. The uniform content management platform further initiates presentation of the new content via a graphical user interface that includes: a dashboard providing a layout of the new content, a content manager that is invoked upon selection of a particular one of the new content for managing a group of content of a common category, and a content editor that is invoked upon selection of one of the content in the group for editing the selected content.

  • Patent number: 8625394
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the invention provide in an exemplary aspect thereof a method that includes storing data descriptive of a plurality of alarm sounds received from at least one source of alarm sounds, the stored data forming a set of alarm sounds; selecting an alarm sound from the set of alarm sounds; and playing the selected alarm sound at a predetermined time, where the selected alarm sound is one corresponding to data that was most recently stored. In another exemplary aspect of the invention a method includes, in response to a user input, enabling an alarm function and recording a current time of day; monitoring the time of day and activating the alarm function when the time of day is equal to a predetermined time of day; and making an alarm sound audible, where the alarm sound is selected from a set of alarm sounds based at least in part on a difference in time between the recorded time of day and the predetermined time of day.
