  • Patent number: 11722285
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for searching and tracking intercell interference in communication networks. In an exemplary embodiment, a method is provided that includes operations of receiving a noise covariance matrix and generating a beam sub-space from the noise covariance matrix. The beam sub-space includes one or more sub-space beams. The method also includes determining a set of selected sub-space beams having energy levels that exceed a threshold, calculating an Eigenvector decomposition for the set of selected sub-space beams to identify an Eigenspace of interference energy, and tracking the Eigenspace over time.

  • Patent number: 11425732
Abstract: A method for communication includes obtaining channel estimates that approximate a response of a communication channel between a transmitter and one or more receivers, and performing an iterative process for improving one or more predefined quality metrics of communication between the transmitter and the one or more receivers. The iterative process includes mapping at least the channel estimates into a transmission scheme of the transmitter using a mapping policy, causing the transmitter to apply the transmission scheme, obtaining, based on signals transmitted from the transmitter to the one or more receivers using the transmission scheme, values of the one or more predefined quality metrics, and modifying the mapping policy to improve the quality metrics.

  • Publication number: 20060072677
Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block coding (SFBC) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to both a closed loop mode and an open loop mode. In the closed loop mode, power loading and eigen-beamforming are performed based on channel state information (CSI). A channel coded data stream is multiplexed into two or more data streams. Power loading is performed based on the CSI on each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is performed on the data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Then, eigen-beamforming is performed based on the CSI to distribute eigenbeams to multiple transmit antennas. The power loading may be performed on two or more SFBC encoding blocks or on each eigenmodes. Additionally, the power loading may be performed across subcarriers or subcarrier groups for weak eigenmodes.

  • Publication number: 20050078771
Abstract: A system and method of wireless communication determines received signal timing deviation which is used to generate a timing advance for adjusting wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) transmissions. An adaptive threshold for measuring the timing deviation is set based on the energy level of received WTRU signals. WTRU signal samples which exceed the threshold are evaluated to determine timing deviation.
