    Abstract: The transition metal component of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst is composed of a titanium halide deposited on a magnesium halide support. The support is prepared by a process involving reaction of a dialkyl magnesium with an alkyl aluminum halide in a hydrocarbon solvent and including treatment of the magnesium halide formed in the reaction with an electron donor, preferably a dialkyl ether.
