  • Patent number: 8443321
Abstract: Methods for determining induced noise on a given victim by a set of aggressor signals are presented, and for identifying the worst case aggressor switching time alignment that causes the worst case victim noise. The method removes circuit analysis pessimism related to simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in a circuit design tool by determining physically impossible combinations of victim-aggressor input/output (I/O) pins in a circuit design and culling out the impossible combinations from the list of possible victim-aggressor combinations. The method further performs a switching window SSN analysis of the circuit design with a common uncertainty removal algorithm taking into consideration the list of possible victim-aggressor combinations, and determines the maximum voltage noise induced on I/O pins of the circuit design. The results of the noise analysis are displayed to the user.

  • Patent number: 8099694
Abstract: In an example embodiment, an EDA program receives input which includes a selection as to an FPGA die and its device package and a selection as to a structured ASIC die and its device package. If the I/O pins on the device package for the FPGA differ from the I/O pins on the device package for the structured ASIC, the EDA program determines a correspondence between the I/O pins on the two device packages (e.g., by identifying the location of the pads for I/O pins on the structured ASIC die and/or creating a virtual structured ASIC device package whose I/O pins are a superset of the I/O pins on the selected structured ASIC device package), which determination includes checking rules for resource assignments. The EDA program then stores the determined correspondence in a device database where the determined correspondence can be accessed by CAD algorithms.

  • Patent number: 7992119
Abstract: Pin placement legality is verified in real-time in a background to reduce a number of input/output assignment analysis runs during a physical design of a programmable logic device. Edited pin properties are checked quickly in the background against certain rules, and results displayed to a user usually before a new pin is edited. Available and legal positions are found and displayed for a selected pin to reduce errors.

  • Publication number: 20100254607
Abstract: A system and method for data processing and presentation which allows a user to define segments of a digital image, to associate appropriate labels to the defined segments and optionally to link other images to the defined segments is provided. The digital image can be maintained on a server which is accessible by a client-side application over a network such as the Internet. The client-side application according to an illustrative embodiment of the invention includes tools which allow a user to quickly and easily identify boundaries of image segments to which the user can define a label, for example by using a computer mouse to identify vertices of a polygon bounding a selected area. The application can send a definition of the boundaries along with the segment label to a server side application which can store the segment identification information along with the image.

  • Patent number: 7523430
Abstract: A logic design system is provided for designing programmable logic device integrated circuits with minimized simultaneous switching noise. The logic design system identifies input-output drivers that are associated with simultaneous switching noise groups by examining a netlist for a circuit design for a programmable logic device. Simultaneous switching noise is minimized by making adjustments to programmable operating parameters for the input-output drivers. The logic design system may make adjustments such as adjustments to programmable drive strengths, programmable slew rates, and programmable on-chip termination resistances. During place and route operations, the logic design system makes placement decisions that help to minimize simultaneous switching noise.

  • Publication number: 20060153196
Abstract: A system for achieving improved isochronous downstream data throughput rates between a DSL modem and a destination device, such as a PC, over a USB 1.1 data channel. An asynchronous transfer mode signal is received by a DSL modem. After normal signal processing, a controller in the modem executes a compression algorithm to strip the redundant ATM header information from each cell. A serial data stream containing the compressed ATM cells are then transferred to the destination device over USB 1.1 channel. A software driver stored at the destination device decompresses the compressed ATM signals for normal reassembly. Because only the data payload portion of each ATM cell is transferred to the destination device, the full 8.184 Mbits/s of the USB channel is used to transfer data, thereby increasing the effective data throughput rate.

  • Patent number: 6658499
Abstract: A system and method for ADSL USB bandwidth negotiation are presented. The system comprises a modem that is configured to transfer data between an ADSL line and a USB bus and that is further configured to receive an ADSL line rate setting, submit an isochronous bandwidth request to a computer, reduce the isochronous bandwidth request in response to the availability of isochronous bandwidth, modify the ADSL line rate setting in response to the availability of isochronous bandwidth, and modify the USB bus transfer mode in response to the availability of isochronous bandwidth. The method comprises steps of receiving an ADSL line rate setting, submitting an isochronous bandwidth request to a computer, reducing the isochronous bandwidth request in response to the availability of isochronous bandwidth, modifying the ADSL line rate setting in response to the availability of isochronous bandwidth, and modifying the USB bus transfer mode of the ADSL USB modem in response to the availability of isochronous bandwidth.
