  • Patent number: 7389996
Abstract: A dolly for moving a bendable roll of material such as a carpet and bending it to fit into a confined space, such as an elevator, includes a primary section capable of supporting a first portion of the roll and having ground-engaging wheels, and a: secondary section pivotally connected to the primary section and capable of supporting a second portion of the roll. The secondary section is pivotally movable relative to the primary section from a lowered position in which the secondary section provides either as a longitudinal extension of the first portion, or in a raised position with the roll bent. A stop member limits lengthwise movement of the roll along the primary section. A carpet roll resting on the dolly may be bent at a central area by lifting the secondary section to the raised position and applying downwards force on the central area of the roll.

  • Patent number: 6880837
Abstract: A dolly for moving articles including lateral filing cabinets, comprising a support surface for one end portion of such a cabinet, and upstanding members partially surrounding the support surface for locating the cabinet in position. The upstanding members include an upstanding end member for locating one end of a cabinet and side members for locating sides of the cabinet, the dolly having an open end opposite the end member which allows the dolly to be slid underneath the cabinet when tilted. Side wheels are mounted on fixed axles outside of the support surface adjacent the open end, and a caster wheel is mounted by a bracket extending outside of, and supported by, the end member. The dolly can be used by one operator to move a fully loaded lateral filing cabinet without tilting the cabinet to such an extent to cause damage.

  • Publication number: 20040237977
Abstract: A series of cigarette-type articles contained in a retail package, each comprising a tobacco-filled cylinder having a filter tip attached to each of its opposite ends, whereby each such article can provide two filter tip cigarettes by the user breaking or severing the tobacco-filled cylinder between the two filter tips. The breakage or severing can occur at variable locations between said filter tips to produce cigarettes of varying length. The tobacco-filled cylinder of each said article has a length of between 2 inches and 3½ inches. The invention also includes a process for producing such cigarette-type articles and a procedure for preparing them for smoking.

  • Patent number: 6471187
Abstract: Apparatus for lifting or supporting modular furniture panels having accessory hanging tracks with apertures, including a support having an upright shaft and a lifting jig movable on the shaft. The lifting jig has a support plate for engaging the underside of a panel, and an angle bracket above the support plate has a series of undercut hooks for engagement with apertures of a hanging track so as to positively locate the jig in relation to the panel. The angle bracket has an inner flange parallel to and attached to a front face of the lifting jig and an outer flange projecting perpendicularly from the front face and having the hooks. The inner flange is provided with horizontal slots which are engageable by screws which extend into said front face of the lifting jig and which allow lateral adjustment of the bracket relative to the lifting jig.

  • Patent number: 6027100
Abstract: Apparatus for supporting modular furniture including panels to allow access to a floor for reflooring or the like, and suitable for supporting a panel end while providing a clear space under said panel end. The apparatus has a bridge member capable of spanning a distance of several feet and end supports engageable with outer end portions of the bridge member for supporting it clear of the floor. A carrier slidably mounted on the bridge member between its end portions has a support which is connectable to a lifting jig engaged with the panel end. A tensioning or jacking device is provided for applying force to the support so that the panel end may be supported while allowing access to a floor area between said end supports.
