Publication number: 20200112394Abstract: Various features pertain to mitigating interference on downlink/uplink channels caused by bursty traffic transmissions. A transmitting node encodes data into transport blocks, each including code blocks in which the data is encoded. The transport blocks are then wirelessly transmitted over a channel specific to a receiving node, where the code blocks of the transport blocks are transmitted without redundant parity code blocks or with a desired amount of redundant parity code blocks. The transmitting node then receives an indication from the receiving node of a number of failed data code blocks. The transmitting node generates an error correction code sufficient to recover all of the failed code blocks and transmits the error correction code within a new transport block along with new data.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2019Publication date: April 9, 2020Inventors: Krishna Kiran MUKKAVILLI, Jing JIANG, Naga BHUSHAN, Joseph Binamira SORIAGA, Tingfang JI, Kambiz AZARIAN YAZDI, Santosh Paul ABRAHAM, John Edward SMEE

Patent number: 10568161Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for improving UL-based mobility. As described herein, a UE may determine it has failed to decode a first keep alive (KA) signal during a wake period of a discontinuous receive (DRx) cycle and may extend the wake period to monitor for a second KA signal, in response to the determination. An access network controller may select, while a (UE) is currently served by a first transmit/receive point (TRP), a second TRP to serve the UE, configure the first TRP to transmit a first keep alive (KA) signal, in response to a chirp signal received from the UE, and configure the second TRP to transmit a second KA signal after the first KA signal transmitted by the first TRP.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2017Date of Patent: February 18, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Kambiz Azarian Yazdi, Tingfang Ji, Haitong Sun, Gavin Bernard Horn, Keiichi Kubota

Patent number: 10541791Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one method, a first transmission may be transmitted on a contention-based channel, and a scheduling request for the first transmission may be transmitted on a scheduled channel. The scheduling request may be transmitted prior to determining that an acknowledgment (ACK) message has been received for the first transmission. In another method, a scheduling request for a first transmission may be received on a scheduled channel from a wireless device. Upon decoding a reception of the first transmission on a contention-based channel, transmission of a transmission grant to the wireless device may be withheld. Upon failing to decode the reception of the first transmission on the contention-based channel, the transmission grant may be transmitted to the wireless device.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2015Date of Patent: January 21, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Tingfang Ji, Joseph Binamira Soriaga, Jing Jiang, John Edward Smee, Naga Bhushan, Kambiz Azarian Yazdi, Krishna Kiran Mukkavilli

Publication number: 20190327062Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for fountain hybrid automatic repeat request (HARD) for reliable low latency communication. A wireless device may transmit a data block based on a low latency operational mode. The device may then transmit a number of redundancy versions of the data block prior to determining whether an acknowledgement (ACK) has been received. In some examples, the device may select an updated modulation and coding scheme (MCS) based on the augmented ACK. In some examples, the device may increase a number of frequency resources (e.g., component carriers) used for transmission based on the augmented ACK.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2019Publication date: October 24, 2019Inventors: Jing Jiang, Joseph Binamira Soriaga, Tingfang Ji, Kambiz Azarian Yazdi, Krishna Kiran Mukkavilli, John Edward Smee

Patent number: 10425971Abstract: A wireless communications of a contention-based access procedure that reduces collision of reference signals (e.g., when multiple devices select a same reference signal) may support a relatively high user capacity. For a contention-based access procedure, a user equipment may select at least two reference signals and transmit those at least two reference signals in association with a payload to a base station. The payload may be demodulated using each of the at least two reference signals. Thus, if collision occurs with a first reference signal of the at least two reference signals, the payload may still be demodulated using a second reference signal of the at least two reference signals. A base station may demodulate the payload using either first reference signal or the second reference signal. The base station may transmit, to the wireless communications device, a response based on the demodulated payload.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2017Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Hung Ly, Wanshi Chen, Tingfang Ji, Hao Xu, Haitong Sun, Heechoon Lee, Kambiz Azarian Yazdi
