  • Publication number: 20070044903
Abstract: A method for making absorbent articles includes forming discrete absorbent cores on a first nonwoven core wrap web; providing a second nonwoven core wrap web in facing relation with the first nonwoven core wrap web to create a composite web wherein the discrete absorbent cores are located between the first and the second nonwoven core wrap webs; at least partially bonding the composite web between the discrete absorbent cores; cutting the composite web between the discrete absorbent cores to form absorbent assemblies which include a first nonwoven core wrap web, a second nonwoven core wrap web and an absorbent core positioned between the first and second nonwoven core wrap webs, the absorbent assemblies include a rear extension region length of at least 30 mm; and joining the absorbent assemblies between a bodyside liner and an outercover to form absorbent articles.

  • Publication number: 20070049892
Abstract: An absorbent article includes an outercover, a bodyside liner, and an absorbent assembly positioned between the outercover and the bodyside liner. The absorbent assembly includes an absorbent core at least partially enveloped by at least one nonwoven core wrap. The absorbent assembly has a rear extension region length of at least 30 mm. The absorbent core may include at least 60 percent superabsorbent and the bodyside liner may include apertures.

  • Publication number: 20050268274
Abstract: An air-laid web is combined with a wet-laid web prior to drying to form a layered tissue sheet. The resulting sheet has a unique combination of properties, which can include greater bulk and fuzziness on the air-laid side and greater strength and more smoothness on the wet-laid side.

  • Publication number: 20050112979
Abstract: An in-line formed web or other material (such as foams) having major surfaces in the X-Y plane and a depth in the Z direction is suitable for use as an integral fluid distribution and fluid retention material in a disposable absorbent article. The web or material contains multiple zones of material which may have both thermoplastic fibers/materials and absorbent material components. The multiple zones can have different compositions of thermoplastic fibers/materials and absorbent material as applied in-line by various arrangements of thermoplastic melt dies and absorbent fiber/material dispensers. By arranging at least two of the multiple zones in an opposing relation overlaid in the Z-axis direction of the web/material, a gradient can be formed in the Z-direction of the web/material.

  • Publication number: 20050045289
Abstract: A method of modifying a two-dimensional, flat fiber morphology of a never-been-dried wood pulp into a three-dimensional twisted fiber morphology without the aid of a chemical cross-linker. The method includes the steps of treating a never-been-dried wood pulp fiber slurry with a drying aid and thermally drying the wood pulp fiber slurry. The method may alternatively, or additionally, include the steps of spray drying a wood pulp fiber slurry and/or a slurry of a hydrophilic material, and flash drying the spray dried wood pulp fiber slurry and/or slurry of hydrophilic material.

  • Publication number: 20050026524
Abstract: Absorbent composites suitable for incorporation into the absorbent core of disposable absorbent articles. The absorbent composites include at least one particle of a superabsorbent material covered with a coating of particles. The absorbent composites are adapted to exhibit an improved Gel Bed Permeability.
