  • Patent number: 10706265
Abstract: In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) recognizes a set of faces within a set of media files stored on the UE using facial recognition. The UE identifies a set of prevalent faces based on a set of criteria including a prevalence of one or more faces among the set of media files. The UE scans real-time media using facial recognition to determine whether any prevalent faces from the set of prevalent faces are present in the real-time media. The UE performs an action based on whether the scanning detects any prevalent faces from the set of prevalent faces in the real-time media. By way of example, the action may include adding one or more enhancement effects to the real-time media, authorizing a communicative operation to proceed, authorizing access to the UE, or any combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20170249674
Abstract: Various aspects and embodiments described herein may use image segmentation technology to enhance communication relating to user-to-user online commerce. Image segmentation technology may be applied to a digital image that a sharing user posts in an online venue to identify one or more segments in the digital image depicting one or more items and one or more tags may be associated with the item(s) depicted in each segment. Accordingly, when an interested user selects a segment in the digital image, information to display to the interested user can be selected (e.g., sorted, filtered, etc.) according to the one or more tags corresponding to the item(s) depicted in the selected segment (e.g., the displayed information may include relevant comments, descriptive information, etc. associated with the depicted item(s). The various aspects and embodiments described herein may thereby focus communication between sharing users and interested users in relation to user-to-user online commerce experiences.

  • Publication number: 20170201552
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to synchronizing media sharing in a communication group. An embodiment transmits one or more media files to one or more members of the communication group, receives, after the transmitting, a selection of one of the one or more media files, and transmits, in response to the receiving, a request to start a group call with the one or more members of the communication group or a request to acquire the floor of the group call. An embodiment receives, at a user device, one or more media files from a member of the communication group, receives, after the receiving the one or more media files, a talk spurt from the member and a reference to one of the one or more media files, and displays the one of the one or more media file during the talk spurt.

  • Publication number: 20150207766
Abstract: Methods, devices, systems, and non-transitory processor-readable storage media for providing a collaboration tool for soliciting responses from users, including operations for receiving at a computing device a request from a user, transmitting to a plurality of computing devices an invitation message that causes the plurality of computing devices to render a display that solicits a response to the request, receiving a response message related to the request from at least one of the plurality of computing devices, evaluating the received response message to determine whether the received response message fulfills the request, and transmitting to the plurality of computing devices a cancellation message in response to determining that the received response message fulfills the request, the cancellation message configured to cause the plurality of computing devices to perform operations to automatically clean-up the display that solicits the response to the request.

  • Patent number: 8806350
Abstract: In an embodiment, a client device receives a query that specifies social, temporal and spatial parameters relative to a set of users (e.g., a source user or source user group). The client device determines degrees to which the specified parameters are related to a group of target users in social, temporal and spatial dimensions. The client device also determines an expected availability of one or more target users for interaction (e.g., interaction via particular types of communication session types, such as voice, video, text, etc.). The client device performs a processing function on at least one data object associated with the group of target users based on (i) whether the determined degrees of relation satisfy the specified parameters of the query, and (ii) the expected availability of the one or more target users in the group of target users.

  • Publication number: 20090300525
Abstract: A cellular or wireless mobile device includes a one or more sensors and a processor configured with software to receive data from the one or more sensors, calendar data and device settings, compare sensor, calendar, device settings data, and an authorization level of a requesting user to avatar selection criteria, and select an avatar based upon the comparison. By correlating sensor data, calendar data and device settings to a user's current status, the avatar selection criteria enables a processor to automatically select an avatar that reflects the user's current status. Others then can be informed of the user's current status by accessing the user's avatar.

  • Publication number: 20090164287
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, and computer program products are presented for optimizing the presentation of media content, such as advertising content, on a wireless device. The present aspects provide for determining, at the wireless device, which media content to present based on historical user usage behavior stored locally on the wireless device. In this regard, the described methods, apparatus, and systems are completely wireless device-based and, as such, do not require for back-end servers or other network devices to intervene in deciding what media content should be communicated to the wireless device and/or presented on the wireless device. Therefore, the present aspects provide for a simple and cost effective approach to targeted media content presentation that additionally affords the wireless device user a level of privacy.
