  • Patent number: 4021484
Abstract: Novel cationic amino resins having a weight average molecular weight of at least 400 and an amine value of 20 to 700 and processes for producing the same characterized (a) by subjecting to thermal polymerization an alicyclic conjugated polyene compound having an alicyclic ring of 5 to 7 carbon atoms and an ethylenically unsaturated amino compound at 170 to 300.degree. C.; (b) by subjecting to thermal polymerization an alicyclic conjugated polyene compound having an alicyclic ring of 5 to 7 carbon atoms and an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated nitrile at 170 to 300.degree. C. to prepare a copolymer containing a nitrile group and hydrogenating the copolymer to reduce the nitrile group.

    Filed: July 10, 1974
Date of Patent: May 3, 1977
Assignee: Arakawa Rinsan Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Hiromi Toda, Kametaro Kunimori, Kuniaki Tsumori
  • Patent number: 3988503
Abstract: Amide-containing polymer is reacted with polyalkyleneimine in an aqueous medium to form a water-soluble cationic resin which is a treating agent useful for fibrous materials. The adduct of halohydrin to the water-soluble cationic resin is a water-soluble cationic thermosetting resin and is also useful for treating fibrous materials. The treating agent has excellent retention ability to fiber, drainage property and storage stability and remarkably improves the retention of fillers and wet and dry strength of paper.
