  • Publication number: 20240001288
Abstract: Sulfur-containing compounds are removed from crude CO2 by conversion to elemental sulfur in a Claus process and subsequently by hydrogenation of the Claus tail gas to convert residual sulfur-containing compounds into H2S which, after cooling to knock out water and then compressing, is removed, together with any other sulfur-containing impurities, either by physical separation or by chemical reaction with a solid metal oxide to form solid metal sulfide with subsequent oxidative regeneration to produce purified CO2 and a recycle gas comprising at least one sulfur-containing compound which is recycled to the Claus process. Some H2S in the Claus tail gas may be removed initially by selective and/or non-selective amine absorption(s) in a tail gas treatment unit prior to removal of residual H2S and any other residual sulfur-containing impurities by the physical separation or the chemical reaction steps.

  • Publication number: 20230304733
Abstract: A hydrogen feed stream comprising one or more impurities selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, argon, methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and water, is purified using a cryogenic temperature swing adsorption (CTSA) process with high overall recovery of hydrogen. The waste gas from regenerating the CTSA may be used to improve the performance of upstream hydrogen processing steps.

  • Publication number: 20230249970
Abstract: A hydrogen feed stream comprising one or more impurities selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, argon, methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and water, is contacted with liquid hydrogen in a cryogenic wash column (CWC) process that produces pure hydrogen with high overall recovery. The waste liquid stream leaving the CWC may be used to improve the performance of upstream hydrogen processing steps.

  • Patent number: 10040051
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for treating a hydrocarbon feed gas stream containing at least CO2 and H2S to recover a high quality purified CO2 gas stream, comprising a. Separating said hydrocarbon feed gas stream into a sweetened hydrocarbon gas stream, and an acid gas stream; b. Introducing said gas stream into a Claus unit, c. Introducing the tail gas into a hydrogenation reactor and then into a quench contactor of the Tail Gas Treatment Unit (TGTU); d. Contacting said tail gas stream with a non-selective amine-based solvent into a non-selective acid gas absorption unit of the TGTU; e. Sending the off gas to an incinerator; f. Contacting said enriched gas stream (vii) with a selective H2S-absorption solvent into a selective H2S-absorption unit thereby recovering a highly purified CO2 gas stream and a H2S-enriched gas stream, as well as the device for carrying said method.
