  • Publication number: 20230221424
Abstract: A surface-based transmitter system for assisting determination of vehicle location is presented. The system comprises a set of radio frequency (RF) transmitter nodes that, when deployed at different respective locations, are configured to output a sequence of respective RF pulses with a predefined inter-pulse delay between each pair of consecutive RF pulses in the sequence, wherein the pre-defined inter-pulse delay is longer than one microsecond. The set of RF transmitter nodes include at least a first RF transmitter node, a second RF transmitter node, a third RF transmitter node, and a fourth RF transmitter node, which are configured to output a first RF pulse, a second RF pulse, a third RF pulse, and a fourth RF pulse, respectively, of the sequence of RF pulses.

  • Patent number: 7079722
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided which allows transfer of DC electrical power across a transparent or semitransparent medium such as glass. Electrical power transfer is achieved using a suitable optical source (matched visible light or infrared LED or LD arrays are best suited) that illuminates a matched solar cell array on the other side of the medium.

  • Publication number: 20060062580
Abstract: This invention relates generally to an specific embodiment of an interface for transmitting electrical power through a transparent or substantially transparent medium for use in an active antenna assembly used in vehicular satellite based communication, navigation or entertainment systems chosen from the group of applications consisting of SDARS, GPS, or other vehicular satellite services. A DC power and Radio Frequency wave coupling system is provided which employs RF and DC coupling across a transparent or substantially transparent medium. RF coupling is achieved using low cost and low loss RF coupler pairs such as quarterwave patches that are mounted opposite each other on either side of a transparent or substantially transparent medium. The feeds of the patches are aligned so as to be directly opposite each other, and the patches are mounted against the transparent or substantially transparent medium.
