Patent number: 7526243Abstract: A small vibrator is connected to a cleaning blade or cleaning blade holder in an electrostatic marking system. This vibrator in a cycle out step moves the blade up and down and reduces thereby overall contact with the photoconductor surface; this reduces any noise caused by blade contact with the photoconductor surface during cycling out or down of the marking procedure.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2007Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Kamran U. Zaman, Stanley J. Pietrzykowski, Jr.

Patent number: 6490426Abstract: A flange assembly having modular mounting features for receiving and removably securing a component such as a gear thereon. The flange assembly is for use with an imaging member such as a photoreceptor drum.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2000Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Kamran U. Patent number: 6104896Abstract: An assembling device insures that the proper interference fit is obtained between a flange device and a hollow cylindrical member into which the flange device is inserted. During the insertion of the flange, the hollow cylindrical member is held in place so that it does not move. A displacement sensor monitors the assembly stroke or the distance the flange is inserted and a force sensor is used to measure the assembly force. Threshold values of the displacement and assembly force are set for each flange device and hollow cylindrical member. The flange device displacement and assembly force are communicated to an assembly indicator. A force and/or displacement value above or below the predetermined threshold value will trigger a signal which alerts an operator to improper assembly of the flange device to the hollow cylindrical member.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1999Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Kamran U. Zaman, George A. Schutt, Timothy J. Leenhouts

Patent number: 5960236Abstract: A silencer including a hollow tube having, in the free state a predetermined inside diameter, the tube including a tube wall having a substantially uniform thickness, an interior surface, a hard exterior surface at least one groove extending axially of the tube, the groove having a depth that is less than the thickness of the tube wall and a slot in the wall extending axially of the tube, and at least one partially compressed high density polymeric open cell foam plug in the interior of the hollow tube, the plug having in the uncompressed state a substantially circular cross section in at least one plane, the circular cross section of the plug having an outside diameter sufficient to increase the inside diameter of the hollow tube to a diameter at least about 5 percent greater than the predetermined inside diameter of the hollow tube in the free state.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1998Date of Patent: September 28, 1999Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Kamran U. Zaman, George A. Schutt

Patent number: 5815773Abstract: An end flange capable of translating a rotational force from an outside source to a hollow cylindrical member is disclosed. The end flange is made from a composition which includes polycarbonate, polytetrafluorethylene, and glass. The end flange may be used to rotate an electrophotographic imaging member past a charging station, for generation of a uniform electrical potential thereon, and subsequent selective discharging of the imaging member and development of an electrostatic latent image. Most notably, mounting of the end flange to the imaging member does not require the use of an adhesive material. This enables successful recycling of the imaging member, and results in significant cost savings.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1997Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Kamran U. Zaman
