Abstract: A license management apparatus is taught which includes a storing portion to store licenses for each of a plurality of operation functions of one of a plurality of operating function executing units, a discriminator to discriminate whether the number of licenses currently permitted for the use of one of the operation functions has reached a predetermined number based on contents of the storing portion upon request for a use of one of the operation functions, and a determination unit to determine whether the request for the use of one of the operation functions is to be permitted based on a discrimination result of the discriminator.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus main body and a display unit that is removable from the apparatus main body. A positional relationship between the display unit and the apparatus main body and a direction are detected by a detecting portion. Based on results of the detection and apparatus conditions, content to be displayed on a displaying portion of the display unit is determined.

Abstract: In setting, by using a format, a non-display region in image data obtained by an image reading unit, a format location information input unit writes in the image data, an image representing information on access to a format storage unit in an external apparatus where a format to be used has been stored. In displaying the image data, a format location information extraction unit extracts the format location information by extracting the image from the image data. A format obtaining unit obtains the format by accessing the format storage unit based on the information. An image modification unit uses the obtained format to modify the image data such that the designated region is displayed in an invisible manner.

The owner of such terminal registers in advance an area in which he expects to be for a given time slot as conditions for operation. The portable terminal verifies its location with respect to the operation conditions set by the owner, and where it is determined that the operation conditions are not met, the portable terminal disables itself, prohibiting its use. Where a pre-registered password is subsequently input, the portable terminal cancels this prohibition. Consequently, if the owner loses the portable terminal while away from home or the office, for example, a third party cannot operate the portable terminal, and moreover, unless the owner-registered password is input, the prohibition is not cancelled, thereby preventing disclosure of the data and other information stored in the portable terminal.

Abstract: It is intended to provide a facsimile device and a program product for facsimile printing capable of surely making a user know receipt of an irregular e-mail such as an error mail or the like, without requiring extra volume of memory, while preventing waste of paper. When an e-mail is received, there is detected whether a printing mode is set or a not-printing mode is set for a body part of an e-mail in #2. Even though a not-printing mode is set for a body part of an e-mail (#2: No), the body part is printed in #8 in case the e-mail is not accompanied by an attached file of predetermined format (#5: No). Therefore, even if a not-printing mode is set, the facsimile device can make a user know receipts of irregular mails such as an error mail, an e-mail without an attached file of predetermined format, and rough causes of the irregular mails.

Abstract: A network scanner device for transmitting image data through networks, includes a reading section for scanning a document to obtain image data, a first setting section for setting up a recipient address to which the image data is to be transmitted, and a second setting section for setting up a sender address representing a sender in place of a sending station address specifying the device. It also includes a transmission control section for carrying out control for adding to the image data the sender address set by the second setting section and transmitting the image data to the recipient address set by the first setting section. Thereby, a person having performed an operation of image data transmission is capable of easily using reply mail and error mail responding to the transmission.
