    Abstract: A vehicle door molding includes a core member and a resin material. The resin material includes a curved surface as viewed in a cross section orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the vehicle door molding. A method for manufacturing the vehicle door molding includes covering a surface of the resin material with a film during transfer of the core member on which the resin material is disposed. The method further includes pressing an entire surface of the film with pressing members during transfer of the core member on which the resin material is disposed. The pressing is performed following the covering with the film. The pressing members are arranged at positions differing from each other in a transfer direction and a direction intersecting with the transfer direction. The method further includes separating the film from the resin material after the pressing.

    Abstract: A moulding for a vehicle includes a moulding body made of resin formed in an elongated form and a moulding end cap made of a resin material different from the resin the moulding body is made of. The moulding end cap is provided with a cap portion that covers an end surface in the longitudinal direction of the moulding body by arranging the cap portion in contact with the end surface in the longitudinal direction of the moulding body and a cap retaining portion that connects to the cap portion and extends therefrom such that the cap retaining portion faces an inner surface of the moulding body along the longitudinal direction of the moulding body. The cap retaining portion is provided with an embedded portion embedded in the moulding body from the direction of the inner surface of the moulding body, embedded by ultrasonic welding.

    Abstract: An apparatus for applying a resin layer of varying width to a surface portion of a supporting member having a varying width includes a stationary die in which is provided a cavity, a resin passage in the cavity, and an injector disposed at the outlet of the resin passage. An extruder extrudes resin material into the cavity via the resin passage. A sliding shutter mechanism is disposed in the cavity for varying the width-wise extent over which the resin is applied to the surface portion of the supporting member to permit application of a resin layer of varying width to the surface portion of the supporting member. A control unit is connected to the extruder and the shutter mechanism for controlling extrusion of the resin and the position of the shutter within the cavity.
