Abstract: A heart valve prosthesis and a method of fabricating the same. The heart valve prosthesis uses a leaflet of pig pericardium or a leaflet of cattle pericardium, which has a suitable thickness according to the size of the valve, and a stent. The heart valve prosthesis is fabricated by placing a valve body over a Dacron body, binding the valve body to the Dacron body using stitching fiber, rolling the Dacron body into a cylindrical form such that the valve body is located inside, binding opposite edges of the Dacron body to each other using stitching fiber, and inserting the resultant structure into a stent, which is knitted using a shape memory alloy wire. The heart valve prosthesis is friendly to and is not rejected by human tissue, is free from deformation, and can be implanted using a non-invasive manner without incising the chest wall of a patient.

Abstract: An image sensor includes a photoelectric converter, a reflector, and a charge carrier guiding region. The reflector is disposed under the photoelectric converter, and the charge carrier guiding region is disposed between the photoelectric converter and the reflector. The reflector reflects incident light passed by the photoelectric converter back through the photoelectric converter for increasing photoelectric conversion efficiency and reduced crosstalk. The charge carrier guiding region dissipates undesired charge carriers for further increasing photoelectric conversion efficiency.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a stent for prostatic urethra expansion which does not generate bladder stones, is removable without causing injury on a urethra, and does not generate atrophy of a prostatic urethra even after removal. The stent for prostatic urethra expansion include a stent unit including a cylindrical body with space parts formed by knotting or crossing shape memory alloy wires and bending terminals formed at both ends of the cylindrical body, a pair of hook wires passing through the space parts and knotted to the shape memory alloy wires, both ends thereof being wound on the bending terminals and then being bent upwardly to produce hooks, and a pair of hanging strings arranged in opposite directions to form a hanging knot. The stent for prostatic urethra expansion does not move into the bladder, and expands and maintains a lumen of the stenosed prostatic urethra, thereby reducing post-operative recovery time.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a diamond tool for cutting a work-piece. An object of the present invention is to provide a diamond tool, wherein diamond granules are arranged at outer peripheries of segments and on certain circumferences and placed in a radial pattern from a center of a shank of the diamond tool, so that a constant cutting force is maintained even though the segments are worn out, and thus, the same cutting force is maintained during the service life of the diamond tool. A diamond tool according to the present invention for achieving the object comprises a shank in the form of a wheel or disk; segments attached to an outer peripheral surface of the shank; and a plurality of diamond granules that are attached to the segments and arranged at an outer periphery of each of the segments and on a plurality of circumferences spaced apart by a certain distance from one another and are placed in a radial pattern from the center of the shank.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a drawstring for removal of a stent. The drawstring includes a circumferential string which is made of soft material and is formed in an end of the stent body in an annular shape. A hook loop is formed by tying opposite ends of the circumferential string to each other. The hook loop protrudes a relatively long distance from the stent body. A marking wire made of radiopaque material is wound around the hook loop. Therefore, when X-rays or endoscope are applied to a relative portion of a patient's body, the position of the hook loop can be easily detected. Furthermore, because the hook loop is made of flexible and soft material, even though it comes into contact with an internal organ of the patient's body, the organ is prevented from being damaged by the hook loop.

Abstract: Provided are a pixel circuit, a photoelectric converter, and an image sensing system thereof. The pixel circuit includes a photodiode and an output unit. The photodiode generates a first photo charge to detect the distance from an object and a second photo charge to detect the color of the object. The output unit generates at least one depth signal used to detect the distance based on the first photo charge generated by the photodiode, and a color signal used to detect the color of the object based on the second photo charge.

Abstract: A pixel cell includes a substrate, an epitaxial layer, and a photo converting device in the epitaxial layer. The epitaxial layer has a doping concentration profile of embossing shape, and includes a plurality of layers that are stacked on the substrate. The photo converting device does not include a neutral region that has a constant potential in the vertical direction. Therefore, the image sensor including the pixel cell has high quantization efficiency, and a crosstalk between photo-converting devices is decreased.

Abstract: An image composing apparatus and method of a portable terminal are provided. The image composing method includes photographing an object when a key for photographing using a background image is input; extracting contours of the background image and the photographed image; and combining the background image and the photographed image such that the extracted contours are matched with each other. The photographed image can be correctly matched with the background image through only one-time photographing, even when the shaking of the user's hand occurs or the object to be photographed moves.

Abstract: A microchannel chip and a dilution method using the same capable of continuously diluting the diverse concentrations of solution by one time fluid injection using the microfluid technology are provided. The microchannels are formed in a plastic chip using the microfluid technology, and a width, a sectional area, or a length of the microchannel is regulated so that the flow rate of a diluted solution (e.g., buffer solution) and a sample (e.g., chemicals or medicament) is controlled. The diluted solution and the specimen are mixed in the mixing channel according to the flow rate, thereby diluting the sample. Such a diluted solution is mixed again with a diluted solution, carrying out the dilution. With the repeated dilution processes, continuously diluted solution is obtained.
