    Abstract: A control circuit for a hard disk drive (HDD) includes a control chip, a connector connected between the control chip and a motherboard, and a function transform circuit connected between the control chip and the connector. A status pin of the control chip is connected to a status receiving pin of the connector through the function transform circuit, to send a working state signal of the hard disk drive to the status receiving pin of the connector. The status receiving pin shows a normal operation of the HDD through a light emitting diode connected to the status receiving pin. The function transform circuit provides a high level signal to a staggered spin-up pin of the control chip, to make the control chip control the hard disk drive to execute staggered spin-up function.

A control pin of the control chip is coupled to a control terminal of the electronic switch. The voltage output terminal is coupled to a first terminal of the electronic switch. The control chip compares a preset current value saved therein with a detecting current passing through the first resistor. If the detecting current is greater than the preset current value, there is no voltage output from the voltage output terminal.

    Abstract: A system for protecting a power supply includes a power supply unit (PSU), an integrated baseboard management controller (IBMC), and a platform controller hub (PCH). The IBMC includes a receiving module and a comparison module. When the PSU enters a protection mode and is shut down, but the PCH maintains outputting a power on signal to power on the PSU, the PSU continues outputting a power good signal to the receiving module. The receiving module counts a number of times of receiving the power good signal within a predetermined time period, and outputs the counted number of times. The comparison module compares the counted number of times with a reference value, and outputs a control signal to the PCH when the counted number of times is greater than the reference value. The PCH stops outputting the power on signal to the PSU after receiving the control signal.

The output pin is also connected to a second voltage input terminal through the first resistor and a second resistor in that order. The selecting module is used to output high or low-level signals to the control chip. The control chip outputs different speed signals to an input pin of the voltage converter. The voltage converter converts the speed signals and outputs converted speed signals to the speed pin of the connector.
