  • Patent number: 7033712
Abstract: A color filter luminescent screen assembly for a cathode ray tube (CRT) is disclosed. The luminescent screen assembly is formed on an interior surface of a faceplate panel of the CRT tube. The luminescent screen assembly includes a patterned light-absorbing matrix that defines a plurality of sets of fields corresponding to one of a blue region, a red region and a green region. A color filter is formed in one of the plurality of sets of fields. The color filter may be, for example, a blue pigment layer, a red pigment layer or a green pigment layer. After the pigment layer is formed, a cap layer is formed thereon. The cap layer is formed from an aqueous solution of a photosensitive material and a polymer. Thereafter, a phosphor layer is deposited on the cap layer.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cathode ray tube (CRT) having a color filter luminescent screen assembly is disclosed. The luminescent screen assembly includes a patterned light-absorbing matrix that defines a plurality of sets of fields corresponding to one of a blue region, a red region and a green region. A color filter is formed in one of the plurality of sets of fields. The color filter is formed by applying a photosensitive material layer on the inner surface of the faceplate panel and exposing one of the sets of fields corresponding to the blue region, the red region or the green region, to harden the photosensitive material in such region. A pigment layer, having a color that corresponds to the color of the region of hardened photosensitive material, is then applied over the exposed photosensitive material layer.

  • Publication number: 20030099772
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a luminescent screen assembly for a color cathode-ray tube (CRT). The luminescent screen assembly is formed on an interior surface of a faceplate panel of the CRT. The luminescent screen assembly includes an organic conductive (OC) layer overcoated with an organic photoconductive (OPC) layer. Different color-emitting phosphors are sequentially deposited over portions of the OPC layer and fixed with an appropriate fixative to secure the phosphors to the OPC layer, and then filmed to provide a smooth surface upon which a metal layer is applied. Thereafter, the metallized screen is baked to drive-off organic constituents remaining on the screen from the OPC, OC, filming and overspray layers. The organic constituents are removed from the metallized screen by volatilizing the organic materials such that the volume rate of gaseous organic constituents produced is less than the diffusion rate of such gaseous organic constituents through the metal layer.

  • Patent number: 6531252
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a luminescent screen assembly for a color cathode-ray tube (CRT) is disclosed. The luminescent screen assembly is formed on an interior surface of a faceplate panel of the CRT. The luminescent screen assembly includes a light-absorbing matrix having a plurality of substantially equally sized openings formed therein. The matrix is formed by applying one or more light sensitive layers on the interior surface of the faceplate panel of the CRT tube. The one or more light sensitive layers includes a photoresist material. Also, the one or more light sensitive layers includes a contrast enhancing material. The one or more light sensitive layers are selectively exposed to actinic radiation projected through openings in a shadow mask, positioned a fixed distance from the screen assembly.

  • Patent number: 6326110
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a method of electrophotographically manufacturing a luminescent screen assembly on an interior surface of a faceplate panel 17 of a color CRT 10 includes the steps of: coating the surface of the panel with a conductive solution to form a volatilizable organic conductive layer 32, and overcoating the organic conductive layer 32 with a photoconductive solution to form a volatilizable photoconductive layer 34. The conductive solution comprises the organic polymer 3,4-polyethylene dioxythiophene polystyrene sulphonate (PEDT/PSS); a methanol-soluble polymer or co-polymer selected from the group consisting of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), poly (vinyl pyridine-co-vinyl acetate) (PVPy-VAc), polymethacrylic acid (PMAA), poly (hydroxyethylacrylate-co-methacrylic acid) (PHEA-MAA) and poly (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) to reduce organic residue; and a solvent.

  • Patent number: 5882548
Abstract: There is disclosed herein novel organic-inorganic layered perovskites of the general formula A.sub.2 MX.sub.4 where A is an organic ammonium cation, M is a divalent rare earth metal and X is a halogen. These compounds can be made by a low temperature (about 100.degree.-160.degree. C.) solid state reaction between the organic ammonium salt with the appropriate hydrogen halide and MX.sub.2 where M is a divalent rare earth metal and X is a halogen). A specific example is (C.sub.4 H.sub.9 NH.sub.3).sub.2 EuI.sub.4 which has been made through a reaction at about 140.degree.-160 C. between C.sub.4 H.sub.9 NH.sub.2. HI and EuI.sub.2. This new compound produces intense blue photoluminescence at room temperature, with a peak wavelength of 460 nm and a fairly narrow peak width (FWHM=24 nm). In addition to the simple aliphatic ammonium cations of the form C.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 NH.sub.3.sup.+, e.g., propylammonium (C.sub.3 H.sub.7 NH.sub.3) and butylammonium (C.sub.4 H.sub.9 NH.sub.

  • Patent number: 5871579
Abstract: A convenient two-step dipping technique for preparing high-quality thin films of a variety of perovskites is provided by the invention. Thin films of Mi.sub.2 (M=Pb, Sn) were first prepared by vacuum-depositing MI.sub.2 onto ash glass or quart substrates, which were subsequently dipped into a solution containing the desired organic ammonium cation for a short period of time. Using this technique, thin films of different layered organic-inorganic perovskites (RNH.sub.3).sub.2 (CH.sub.3 NH.sub.3).sub.n-1 M.sub.n I.sub.3n+1 (R=butyl, phenethyl; M=Pb, Sn; and n=1, 2) and three-dimensional perovskites CH.sub.3 NH.sub.3 MI.sub.3 (M=Pb, Sn; i.e. n=.infin.) were successfully prepared at room temperature. The lattice constants of these dip-processed perovskites are very similar to those of the corresponding compounds prepared by solution-growth or by solid state reactions. The layered perovskite thin films possess strong photoluminescence, distributed uniformly across the film areas.
