  • Patent number: 7682428
Abstract: An oxygen concentration apparatus (300) according to the present invention has: pressure swing adsorption type oxygen concentration means (310); and a control means (350) that controls switching means (316) that switches between intake of pressurized air into an adsorption column (312) and exhaust from the adsorption column. The switching means is controlled based on pressure in oxygen concentrated gas in the conduit measured by pressure measuring means to adjust a cycle of adsorption and regeneration processes of the oxygen concentration means so that pressure at the upstream of flow rate adjusting means (340) can be controlled and, as a result, the need for a mechanical pressure regulating valve, that has been needed conventionally, can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6787032
Abstract: An apparatus for preparing dialysis liquid includes a container holder 112 for holding an inverted container 102, the container having a tubular body portion which accommodates a powder preparation, a bottom wall, and a sealing member for closing an outlet opening defined at the end of the tubular body portion opposite to the bottom wall. The apparatus also includes a movable cutter 118 for cutting the sealing member, a mesh member 116, horizontally disposed above the tank, for receiving the powder preparation from the container 102, and a nozzle 120 for applying water to the powder preparation which has fallen on the mesh member after the sealing member is cut by the cutter 118. The water and powder are received in a concentrated liquid tank 114a provided under the container holder 112, and the concentrated liquid is diluted with a diluting water as it is supplied to the dialyzer 160.

  • Patent number: 5835619
Abstract: A binary image of a bone section is provided to be processed. A region of interest is provided on the binary image to produce a ROI image by extracting pixels corresponding to the bone portion from the binary image within the region of interest, onto which ROI image morphometry is carried out. A series of pixels which are on the center line extending along the cortical bone portion in the ROI image. A hemi-cortical bone image is produced by using the determined center line. The hemi-cortical bone image has a wall thickness substantially half of the real wall thickness of the cortical bone portion. A template image for the cortical bone portion is produced by executing expanding operations on the hemi-cortical bone image a predetermined number of times.

  • Patent number: 5572993
Abstract: An apparatus for assisting in ventilating the lungs of a patient comprises a respiratory gas source means; a breathing mask means; a conduit means for fluidly connecting the respiratory gas source means to the mask; a means fop regulating the pressure within the conduit means; a flow meter means for detecting the flow rate of the respiratory gas; and a pressure sensor means for detecting the pressure within the conduit adjacent to the breathing mask. The apparatus further comprises a means for calculating the flow impedance parameter of the flow system downstream the pressure sensing means; a means for storing the relationship between the operation of the pressure regulating means, the flow impedance parameter, and the pressure within the conduit means; a means for predicting the flow impedance parameter after a predetermined time interval; and a means for generating a target pressure to which the pressure regulating means regulates the pressure within the conduit.

  • Patent number: 5365564
Abstract: A bone-morphometric apparatus (20) is provided with a bone-morphometric data processing unit (32), including at least an image storage unit, such as an image memory (56), a microprocessor unit (60), and an input unit for entering reference points to specify an object measuring region. The data processing unit (32) stores either digital data of an X-ray image (22a) of a sample bone formed on an X-ray film (22) simultaneously with an image of a given standard block (11), obtained by illuminating the X-ray film with illuminating light from a light source (41) and automatically detecting the quantity of light transmitted through the image (22a) by an image detector (42), or digital data of a radiographic image of the sample bone obtained by a radiographic image-forming apparatus (90) in the image storage unit, so as to subject the stored digital data to arithmetic operation, to thereby obtain bone-morphometric data.
