    Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a job registering unit, an address setting unit, a control unit, a detecting unit, and a transmitting unit. The job registering unit registers a job. The address setting unit sets an electronic mail address to be set as a transmission destination of a status concerning the job registered in the job registering unit. The control unit executes the job registered in the job registering unit. The detecting unit detects the status concerning the job executed by the control unit. The transmitting unit transmits an electronic mail including the status of the job detected by the detecting unit to the electronic mail address set by the address setting unit.
