  • Patent number: 6756421
Abstract: A dental glass ionomer cement composition is disclosed, containing a coloring matter, a color of which is specified such that an L* value, when expressed by an L*a*b* colorimetric system in a standard illuminant D65, being 60 or less, and a content of the coloring matter being preferably from 0.1 to 5% by weight based on the whole of the composition, and when the dental glass ionomer cement composition according to the invention is used in a setting method of a dental glass ionomer cement that is a most generally used dental cement at present over a wide range of dental applications by means of irradiation with a light, it has an effect for further shortening the time of sensitization to water and the time of setting.

  • Patent number: 6355585
Abstract: A glass powder for glass ionomer cement is disclosed, containing a glass powder for glass ionomer cement having a shape in which a major axis length is from 3 to 1,000 times a minor axis length, in a glass powder for glass ionomer cement. The glass powder for glass ionomer cement having a shape in which a major axis length is from 3 to 1,000 times a minor axis length is a fibrous glass having a minor axis length of from 0.1 to 100 &mgr;m and a major axis length of 500 &mgr;m or less, and its content is within a range of from 0.1 to 80% by weight, being enable to provide a glass ionomer cement set material having a high mechanical strength, particularly bending strength and tensile strength.

  • Patent number: 6264472
Abstract: A method for setting a dental glass ionomer cement by means of irradiation with a light to accelerateinitial setting, the cement comprising a fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder, a polycarboxylic acid and water, is disclosed. Further, the light to be irradiated in the method for setting the dental glass ionomer cement is preferably a light having a wavelength in the range of from 320 to 3,000 nm, and the irradiation intensity and irradiation time of the light are preferably from 200 to 3,000 mW/cm2 and from 1 to 180 seconds, respectively. According to the method for setting the dental glass ionomer cement of this invention, the time for sensitization to water and the initial setting time can be shortened, without necessity of particularly performing an operation for preventing the sensitization to water with a varnish or the like.
