    Abstract: A joystick for an electro-hydraulic control system is provided with a rotary potentiometer having a pivotable arm. The joystick is also provided with a torsion coil spring for normally holding the pivotable arm in a neutral position, a pin arranged on the pivotable arm and capable of expanding the torsion coil spring upon pivotal movement of the pivotable arm, a holding pin for holding the torsion coil spring at its coil portion, and a cover member having a pair of guide portions for limiting movements of the coil portion of the torsion coil spring in the predetermined direction and the opposition direction when the torsion coil spring is in its neutral position.

    Abstract: The present invention provides new arrangements for various components of a CSK communication system: modulator, correlators, demodulator, carrier detection circuit, and synchronization control circuit. The various improvements provide more accurate demodulation of data from the received signal in the presence of noise and signal deterioration. A modulator configuration permits the CSK system to use two M series codes in which the second code is simply a phase shifted version of the first code. The PN correlators, via shift-registers, efficiently output two correlation signals. The demodulator accepts two correlation signals from the correlators, detects auto-correlation peaks in the correlation signals, and uses the peaks to accurately determine whether the received bit has a value of "1" or "0". The carrier detecting circuit detects the presence of data in the received signal.

    Abstract: This invention is directed to various improvements in spread spectrum power line communications. One aspect of the invention relates to collision avoidance between varius "slave" unit transmitters trying to send messages to a single "master" unit receiver by detecting whether the transmission path is in use and refraining from transmitting if it is. Other aspects of the invention relate to controlling the frequencies of spread spectrum data messages transmitted, using gold codes to identify the slave units, and switching frequency bands on the powe line to avoid frequencies where there has been a deterioration of transmission. In each embodiment, the signal modulated over the power line is modulated by a signal which is synchronous with A.C. power flowing through the power line used for communications.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a method of testing and verifying a performance for insulation to ground of a disconnecting switch when breaking a charging current. This disconnecting switch has a movable electrode and a fixed electrode which are arranged in a tank so as to face each other. One of these electrodes is connected to an electrostatic capacity load and the other is connected to a power supply. This test method comprises the steps of: applying a voltage from the power supply through the disconnecting switch to the load to cause the voltage to be trapped in the load; and applying a voltage of the polarity opposite to that of the trapped charged voltage from the power supply to the disconnecting switch to cause the discharge between those electrodes, thereby verifying the performance for insulation to ground.
