  • Patent number: 7410025
Abstract: A vehicle, such as an under-bone type motorcycle, can guide a sufficient amount of running wind to a core section of a radiator (heat exchanger). The vehicle includes a head pipe, a main frame connected to the head pipe to extend downward and rearward, an engine disposed below the main frame, a leg shield covering a front side of a leg of a driver and having an opening in a forward area thereof, a radiator disposed within the opening of the leg shield which includes a core section through which running wind passes thus cooling the engine, and a wind guiding wall attached to the leg shield to guide the running wind to the radiator. The wind guiding wall includes a forward section that protrudes forward from a front end surface of the opening of the leg shield and a rear section that has a rear end positioned adjacent to a lateral side end of the core section of the radiator.

  • Patent number: 7387180
Abstract: A vehicle includes a leg shield arranged to cover the front sides of the legs of a driver riding the vehicle and a heat exchanger arranged on the front surface side of the leg shield. The leg shield includes a wind guide space formed by a wall member of the leg shield, a first opening formed in a portion of the wall member of the leg shield located at least behind the heat exchanger for guiding air passing through the heat exchanger to the wind guide space and a second opening formed in another portion of the wall member of the leg shield separated from the first opening by a predetermined distance for discharging the air passing through the heat exchanger, guided to the first opening from the wind guide space.

  • Publication number: 20060087144
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a front cowl that exhibits a sufficient stiffness even in use for underbone type motorcycles, etc., and a vehicle provided with the front cowl. The front cowl is formed into a shape, in which it extends obliquely rearward with a center point as a front end. The front cowl is formed with a horn opening, lighting openings, and baffle openings. The openings are arranged to be radial round a central portion as viewed from the front. The front cowl is formed with an irregular shape, which is defined by crest lines and trough lines. The crest lines are arranged between the horn opening and the lighting openings. The trough lines and the crest lines are arranged between the lighting openings and the baffle openings.
