The imaging unit performs focusing by detecting contrast in an image of the subject, and while the reflecting mirror is kept in the second state, the image adjustment unit increases the brightness of the image on a display when the aperture adjustment unit changes the aperture value of the imaging optical system to a larger aperture value, and by operation of the release button, the imaging unit performs the focusing, and then the photographing of the subject is started.
