  • Patent number: 7742682
Abstract: An information recording medium suitable for optical discs such as DVD-RAM is provided for integrated management of data as objects in different kinds of AV formats. Also, an apparatus is provided for data recording and playing to the medium. The medium stores management information including program chain information (PGC information) defining the playback order of the objects, and object information containing information relevant to the objects. The object information has general information of the object, attribute information and a map associating a playback time point of the object with an address on the optical disc of a component of the object to be played. The PGC information has cell information including information about type of object, identification information. The order of the cell information in the PGC information corresponds to the order in which the objects are played back.

  • Patent number: 7738330
Abstract: Congested rewriting in the same area is to be evaded to suppress the tendency towards occurrence of defective areas. When a stream 1 has been recorded, the last written address, representing the last written position, is stored. When recording a stream 2 next, recording is started directly following the position indicated by the last written address for the stream 1. The last written address, corresponding to the last address of the recording position, is stored. If the stream 2 is erased for recording a stream 3, recording is started not at a position directly following the last written address of the stream 1, but from a position directly following the last written address of the stream 2. When the stream 3 has reached the end of a recording area, the next following data is recorded as from a position directly following the stream 1.

  • Publication number: 20100100969
Abstract: If playback devices are prohibited from playing back contents recorded in R media, there occurs a problem that it takes more time to manufacture commercial ROM media. Conversely, if playback devices are permitted to play back contents recorded in R media, there occurs a problem that copyrights might be infringed. In view of these, the aim of the present invention is to provide a content protection data processing system and a playback device capable of determining whether to permit playback of a content recorded in a recording medium, based on a medium type of the recording medium and a signature type of a signature attached to a program, and switching a procedure relating to a digital signature for each signature type of the digital signature. This enables both the protection of the copyright of the content and the efficient manufacturing of commercial ROM media.

  • Patent number: 7644446
Abstract: A source generates a medium key (KM) and a media secret table including a plurality of entries, each entry including (KM) encrypted by a public key (PU-PD) of a plurality of devices, obtains the medium ID of a medium therefrom, generates a content key (KD) for a piece of content, encrypts the content with (KD) to result in (KD(content)), encrypts (KD) with (KM) to result in (KM(KD)), generates a package for the content including (KD(content)), (KM(KD)), the medium ID, and a signature based on at least the medium ID and verifiable with (KM), and copies the generated package and the media secret table to the medium. Thus, a device with the medium and a private key (PR-PD) corresponding to an entry of the media secret table can access and render the content.

  • Patent number: 7610626
Abstract: An MPEG2-PS format digital stream is composed of VOBUs and each VOBU except an RDI-Pack at the top is encrypted using a content key Kc. The content key Kc is an encryption key obtained by adding a title key Kt to CCI, and then converting a time varying coefficient using the sum. Accordingly, the resulting content key Kc differs for each VOBU. Since each content key Kc is all different for such a small unit of VOBU, copyright of the digital stream is firmly protected. CCI contained in RDI-Pack represents conditional Copy Freely status which allows the digital stream to be copied on condition that the digital stream is recorded only in encrypted form.

  • Patent number: 7529160
Abstract: In order to perform simultaneous recording of a plurality of pieces of real time data, a large capacity of buffer memories were required. In addition, it was difficult to reproduce data which was recorded by a different apparatus. The present invention has an objective of providing an information recording medium, a simultaneous recording method, and an information recording and reproduction apparatus which guarantee simultaneous recording. The simultaneous recording is guaranteed by reproducing data in each of areas having at least a minimum size fulfilling the simultaneous recording condition which allows for the number of access operations which is twice the number of pieces of real time data to be recorded, and when the data amount in the buffer is empty, switching the current recording operation to another recording operation to continue recording.

  • Publication number: 20080256639
Abstract: A virtual machine can be implemented by anyone because the interface and other information necessary for implementation are publicly available. Hence, if virtual machine is implemented maliciously, a program operating thereon can be made to operate maliciously instead of operating legitimately. By comparing secret information held in memory and specific to the virtual machine with verification information which a program holds itself, the program verifies that the virtual machine on which it is running has been legitimately implemented and excludes illegitimate virtual machines.
