  • Patent number: 6272998
Abstract: A tracer sleeve having a self-destruction charge, for use with a projectile. The tracer sleeve is screwed into a threaded bore in a rearward end of the projectile. The self-destruction charge is situated in a recess in a forward bottom of the tracer sleeve. A closed bushing bottom in the projectile separates the bore from a more forwardly situated charge member. The recess being a blind bore from the front side of the bottom of the tracer sleeve, and the blind bore being closed by a disc which is sealingly attached in front of the blind bore.

  • Patent number: 6269747
Abstract: A training rocket for smoke development. The training rocket includes a rocket tube which contains powder and constitutes a propulsion motor for the rocket. The rocket includes a forward training head which contains a smoke composition adapted to emit visible smoke upon impact. An igniter charge, such as a tracer charge, which can be ignited by the propellant powder is situated in the rearmost of the training head, behind a bursting charge which can be ignited by the igniter charge. The igniter charge and the bursting charge are situated behind the smoke composition in the training head, for igniting the smoke composition, in a capsule which can be forced rearwardly from the training head due to the increased pressure caused by combustion of the smoke composition, whereby an aperture is formed for passage of smoke gases rearwardly in the rocket, through the rocket tube and out of it.

  • Patent number: 5388524
Abstract: A practice projectile free of any explosive or bursting charge, adapted for shooting from aircraft against ground targets or for other kinds of practice shooting and comprising a hollow shell, a projectile base and a nose portion which engages the shell along a circumferential partition therebetween, wherein the base is a separate part relatively to the shell, whereby a circumferential partition between the base and the shell is formed. The base is fastened to or made integral with a rod or a tube which extends centrally and axially through the shell and is fastened to or made integrally with the nose portion, whereby the rod or tube keeps the projectile together as a unit, and the rod or tube, or a fastening member thereof situated on the nose portion, has a weakened portion which axially is situated approximately at the level of the partition between the shell and the nose portion.

  • Patent number: 5347907
Abstract: A multipurpose projectile and a method of making it, said projectile comprising a shell (2) which contains a penetrator (1) and at least one incendiary charge (5) surrounding a portion of the penetrator in front of a well (3) in the bottom of the shell, in which the penetrator has been inserted. The incendiary charge (5) is pressed in approximately over its entire cross section by means of a plunger (14) having an annular pressing surface, and the cavity (12) in which the incendiary charge is situated is cylindrical and has a constant diameter along its entire length, whereby the pressing surface of the plunger substantially covers the entire cavity cross section between the penetrator (1) and the shell (2). The plunger is inserted through the front end of the shell, which is open prior to mounting a nose portion on the shell.

  • Patent number: 5341745
Abstract: Grenade comprising an incendiary element (3) which is situated in a retainer (1) projecting into a bore (5) in a charge (10) in the grenade shell. The incendiary element (3) has been pressed into the retainer (1) and is situated behind a transfer or booster charge (4). The retainer (1) may be mainly circular- cylindrical, in order to permit that both the incendiary element (3) and the transfer or booster charge (4) can be pressed over the entire cross section of the retainer (1).

  • Patent number: 4876964
Abstract: A projectile and method of making it having a forward end portion which comprises a hollow, metallic nose portion (1) containing a charge (3) adapted to detonate by impact against a target without the use of a fuse. In order to achieve safeguard against initiation when the impact velocity is low the cavity in the nose portion, in a distance from the forwardmost part thereof, is covered by a liner (4) of a softer material than the metal of the nose portion. The liner may be of plastic material.
