  • Patent number: 5862597
Abstract: A mechanical cutter for cutting solid materials. It comprises left and right cutting jaws which are moveably connected by a rear hardware unit and rotate about this pivot point. The cutting jaws have opposing curved cutting edges which close but form an opening extending down to the base. The cutting jaws also have central holes. Straps with two mounting holes and an elongated base hole are placed above and below the cutting jaws to guide the linear motion of the cutting jaws. One pair of handle plates is placed above the top strap and another pair of handle plates is placed below the bottom strap. Alternately, a handle assembly is slid over the straps on the right and left side. A circular boss with an eccentric hole is on the end of each top and bottom handle plate. The circular bosses mate with the respective strap mounting holes. The plates are connected with each other through, the eccentric holes in the circular bosses and the central holes in the cutting jaws, by front hardware units.

  • Patent number: 5081769
Abstract: Disclosed is a cutting head, suitable for use in cutting wire or sheet metal. The cutting head includes two jaws, and a cutting blade on each jaw. A spring, which is preferably a split cylinder, is disposed in a hole at the pivot point between the jaws. The spring expands in the hole, forces the jaws apart, and stabilizes the jaws during use while correcting for any minor deviations which occurred in machining of the functional parts of the cutting head. In a preferred embodiment, the two jaws are held together by one or more straps which are bolted to each of the jaws.

  • Patent number: 4918815
Abstract: A multi-link cutting tool used to cut wire, pipe, cable, tube, chain and the like. The cutting tool utilizes a multi-link connecting linkage between the cutter head and the handles to increase the leverage obtained at the cutting edge. As a result of the connecting linkage, a lower force is required at the handles since they operate through a greater distance. With this multi-link connecting mechanism, a smaller and more powerful cutting tool can be made.
