  • Publication number: 20160076775
Abstract: A device for limiting the temperature of cookware on a cooktop to a threshold level that corresponds to an oil ignition temperature. The device includes a temperature sensor that is positioned adjacent a bottom of the cookware on the cooktop. A control device in combination with each of the temperature sensor and the cooktop monitors the temperature and adjusts a heating element of the cooktop as needed to avoid cooking oil ignition. The temperature sensor can be a spring loaded temperature sensor to ensure and/or absorb contact with the cookware.

  • Publication number: 20150173551
Abstract: An oven includes a cooking enclosure including one or more cooking heater elements, a steam source in the cooking enclosure, and a steam source heater for the steam source. A sensor is responsive to the temperature of the steam source. A fluid reservoir is exterior to the cooking enclosure and a conduit extends from the fluid reservoir to or proximate the steam source. A controller energizes the steam source heater if the temperature of the steam source is below a predetermined threshold and de-energizes the steam source heater if the temperature of the steam source is above the predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20130287626
Abstract: An assembly and method for treating or otherwise improving an atmosphere contained within an enclosed space. The enclosed space can be a container such as a bag or other housing for equipment, food and/or suitable material, or a room, another similar space and/or environment within a residential building space, a commercial building space, an industrial building space and/or a space of any other similar building structure. Ozone is generated within an atmosphere that is exposed to the material. The generated ozone is mixed with the atmosphere in the presence of UV light. The ozone reacts with contaminants in the presence of UV light and removes or inactivates those contaminants from the atmosphere. The UV light and ozone inactivate microbes and alter the proteins on allergens. At least a portion of the generated ozone is then removed from the mixed atmosphere.

  • Publication number: 20120088022
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for accurately dispensing a powder such as powdered infant formula into a container, and pasteurizing and reconstituting the powdered formula while completely mixing the formula in the container. The apparatus includes a hopper assembly for storing powder, a dosing assembly for measuring and dispensing powder from a receptacle into the container, a dilution assembly and a mixing assembly for obtaining accurately and completely mixed formula from the dispensed powder. The hopper is shaped to promote powder bridging, and the resulting powder bridge is used in combination with the dosing assembly to provide a predetermined amount of powder using a single mechanical valve that is isolated from the powder. The mixing assembly mixes the contents of the container while holding the bottle at a fixed angle relative to the vertical. A method of providing pasteurized infant formula from an infant formula powder is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6916173
Abstract: An apparatus for combusting a fuel and air mixture within a combustion chamber, particularly a combustion chamber of a gaseous fuel fired water heater. A pressure relief void is intentionally formed so that a combustion chamber forms communication with a surrounding environment through a peripheral gap between the combustion chamber wall and a vessel wall of a vessel. During ignition, the pressure relief void allows pre-combustion fluid within the combustion chamber to escape through both the pressure relief void and the exhaust flue. The pressure relief void reduces or eliminates undesirable noise associated with start-up and operation of conventional water heater combustion chambers with premixed burner systems. The pressure relief void of this invention is sized large enough to relieve an ignition pressure pulse from the combustion chamber upon ignition and yet is sized small enough to prevent a combustion flame from passing through the pressure relief void during ignition.

  • Patent number: 6755644
Abstract: A method and apparatus for combusting a fuel and air mixture within a combustion chamber, particularly a combustion chamber of a gaseous fuel fired water heater. A pressure relief void is intentionally formed so that a combustion chamber forms communication with a surrounding environment through means other than the exhaust flue and/or a fuel and/or air inlet. The pressure relief void of this invention is preferably sized large enough to relieve an ignition pressure pulse from the combustion chamber upon ignition and yet is sized small enough to prevent a combustion flame from passing through the pressure relief void during ignition and/or operational combustion.
