  • Patent number: 9628894
Abstract: An audio entertainment system for a vehicle includes a primary audio entertainment source to play a primary audio program and a secondary audio entertainment source to play a secondary audio program. The system has a plurality of front speakers, a left rear speaker, and a right rear speaker. A headphone set is for private listening by a rear seat passenger to the secondary audio program. The headphone set is selectably connectable to the secondary audio entertainment source. The system has a normal mode and a selectable enhanced rear seat entertainment mode. In the enhanced mode, an output sound power frequency spectrum of the rear speakers is automatically adjustable by frequency band to reduce audible interference between the primary program and the secondary program as audibly detected by the rear seat passenger while minimizing a disturbance to the primary audio program audibly detectable at the front seat row.

  • Publication number: 20170026684
Abstract: Distributed, duplexing, arrangements include a portable system and a host device. The portable system and the host device are configured in various embodiments to receive user input and, in response, affect a feature of itself or send a message to the other to alter a feature of the other. The portable system divides a source video file or a virtualized source video into a plurality of image components, and sends them to the host device for publishing of the image components sequentially for real-time display rendering of streaming video by way of the host device and a display component. The portable system can generate a meta-index package, wherein each constituent index component corresponds to a respective image component, and can send the image components as part of a circular data-content package.

  • Patent number: 9544853
Abstract: A method and system for selective activation of a vehicle near field communication (NFC) module. The vehicle NFC module may be part of a vehicle communication and access system capable of initiating various vehicle functions, such as unlocking one or more doors of the vehicle or starting a motor or engine of the vehicle. With the method and system, a user's mobile device can be used in lieu of a key or a key fob. In situations where the battery power level of the user's mobile device is low, such that Bluetooth or the generation of an active NFC signal is unavailable, the vehicle NFC module is maintained in an active mode. In the active mode, the vehicle NFC module can initiate a connection with a passive mobile NFC target. Otherwise, depending on the battery level of the user's mobile device, the vehicle NFC module is maintained in a standard sleep mode to save power.

  • Publication number: 20150043745
Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, systems and apparatus are disclosed for providing information and corresponding textual information to an automotive head unit (AHU) of a vehicle. A first server generates audio information and communicates it to a wireless communication interface of a network access device (NAD) that is located at a vehicle. A second server generates corresponding textual information that is associated with the audio information, and communicates the corresponding textual information to the wireless communication interface of the NAD. The NAD can then communicate the audio information and the corresponding textual information to the automotive head unit (AHU) of the vehicle. The AHU can then process the audio information and the corresponding textual information.
