  • Patent number: 6865165
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling load in a telecommunication system comprising a network part, at least one subscriber terminal and a telecommunication connection between the network part and the subscriber terminal, in which method the telecommunication connection is used for connection setup and data transfer, the telecommunication connection comprising a channel for relaying channel allocation requests transmitted by the subscriber terminal to the network part. The invention is characterized in that the telecommunication system load is controlled by adjusting the capacity of the channel used for relaying the channel allocation requests.

  • Patent number: 6810026
Abstract: A method according to the invention of reducing radio channel access delay in a packet radio system, and a packet radio system, which comprises a network element 100, 102 132, 140 and at least one subscriber terminal 150, which network element 100, 102, 132, 140 transmits channel allocation messages A1, A2, . . . to the subscriber terminals 150, which channel allocation messages A1, A2, . . . are transmitted by means of paging subchannels G0 . . . G9 . . . , and which subscriber terminals 150 listen to one or several paging subchannels G0 . . . G9 . . . . The invention is characterized in that the channel allocation messages A1, A2, . . . to be transmitted to the subscriber terminals 150 are organized such that the cumulative total delay of all the channel allocation messages A1, A2, . . . is minimized by optimizing the use of the paging subchannels G0 . . . G9 . . . .

  • Patent number: 6671287
Abstract: The invention relates to a data transmission method between a network part of a General Packet Radio Service and a subscriber terminal. In the method an RLC/MAC (Radio Link Control/Medium Access Control) protocol layer and an LLC (Logical Link Control) protocol layer employing the services of the RLC/MAC protocol layer are used as data link layers. In data transmission an LLC frame of the LLC layer is placed in an RLC data block of the RLC/MAC layer. In accordance with the invention more than two LLC frames are placed in one RLC data block. According to prior art one RLC data block may comprise two different LLC frames at the most. The method is, for example, implemented in such a manner that when the RLC data block includes an RLC header field and an RLC data field then the RLC data block includes a mechanism accurately indicating the LLC frame length in each RLC data block and information about whether another LLC frame will follow said LLC frame or not.

  • Patent number: 6359904
Abstract: The scope of the present invention is a method for data transfer in a digital mobile communications system, in which method it is handled data in certain layers according to certain protocols, in a certain layer out of said layers it is transferred user data in radio blocks (RB) over a physical radio channel between a mobile station and a fixed mobile communications network, for the transfer of said certain layer it is formed in the radio block (RB) a payload of a certain size comprising check bits (CHB) connected with the performing of the transfer and transfer bits (TB) available for the transfer of user data, each radio block (RB) is channel coded using a certain coding method and the size of said payload is dependent on the coding method.

  • Patent number: 6266985
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for improving the lubrication of the edges and ends of objects to be rolled, particularly hot rolled, said objects consisting of essentially planar surfaces and being for example metal sheets or strips. According to the invention, the lubricating medium is fed so that it is applied on the edge area of the object to be rolled (1, 21, 31), essentially during the whole rolling pass, and so that lubricating medium is applied, when beginning or finishing a rolling pass, essentially along the whole width of the object to be rolled (1, 21, 31), in the immediate vicinity of the ends of the object to be rolled.
