  • Publication number: 20120237883
Abstract: A method of feeding at least one of light, fine, volatile and moist fuel into a furnace of a circulating fluidized bed boiler. Fuel is introduced into the furnace and is combusted in the presence of a fluidized bed material to form flue gases. The fluidized bed material is circulated both inside the furnace in an internal circulation in which bed material returns along walls of the furnace down to the bottom of the furnace, and outside the furnace in an external circulation that includes at least a solids separator arranged in flow communication with the furnace. Bed material is separated from the flue gases in the separator. The flue gases are removed from the separator for further treatment. The separated bed material is returned to the furnace.

  • Patent number: 7244399
Abstract: A grid construction for a fluidized bed reactor, the reactor including a reaction chamber defined by substantially vertical walls, in which a fluidized bed of solid particles is maintained, and a windbox under the reaction chamber, in a lower portion of the reactor. The grid construction is positioned between the reaction chamber and the windbox and includes (a) multiple continuous nozzle lines for distributing fluidizing gas from the windbox into the reaction chamber, for suspending the fluidized bed in the reaction chamber, and (b) continuous trenches between the nozzle lines. The nozzle lines include multiple gas outlets, having a main gas flow direction, at side faces of said nozzle lines, for directing fluidizing gas jets towards an adjacent trench.

  • Patent number: 5634516
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cooling hot gas in a reactor which is provided with a mixing chamber for hot gas and a chamber encompassing a bubbling fluidized bed in the lower section of the reactor, a riser in the middle section, a gas outlet in the upper section of the reactor, and heat transfer surfaces for recovering heat from solid particles. The hot gas is introduced through the mixing chamber into the lower section of the reactor. In the mixing chamber solid particles are supplied to the hot gas for cooling the gas. The gas containing solid particles is conveyed into a separator. From the separator, the gas is conveyed through the riser into particle separators and, when purified, out of the reactor. The solid particles separated in the particle separator are returned to the lower section of the reactor, preferably both directly into the mixing chamber and into the fluidized bed. From the fluidized bed, cooled solid particles are conveyed to the mixing chamber for cooling of hot gas.

  • Patent number: 5386974
Abstract: A method for treating gases and solids in a fluid bed, the fluid bed reactor substantially comprising, regarded downstream, a mixing chamber, a riser pipe and a cyclone with a solids return pipe to the mixing chamber, the gases being introduced into the mixing chamber at a gas rate immediately before the inlet port of the mixing chamber of more than 35 m/sec.
