  • Publication number: 20170011573
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing redundant access control systems with removable wireless buttons are disclosed. According to some embodiments of the invention, the systems and methods include a smart lock with a button that is enabled to communicate to a network device, a central access server, or an administrator device. When a user requests access to the lock, the removable wireless button communicates the request to the network device, administrator device, or central access server. The removable wireless button is configured to communicate directly to the central access server and the administrator device, or indirectly through a network device. The button may be detached from the cylinder and docked onto a recharge station. In some embodiments, the removable wireless button includes an inertial module motion sensor that determines whether a door is open or closed.

  • Patent number: 9542785
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for communicating information, altering access rights, and transferring power to and from an electronic programmable key are disclosed. A mobile key interface device is configured to couple to a contact pin of the electronic programmable key to establish a channel of communication. Using the channel of communication, the mobile key interface device may communicate information, alter access rights, and transfer power to and from the electronic programmable key. The mobile key interface device may also communicate with a mobile communication device. Using the mobile communication device's network connection, the mobile key interface device may further establish a channel of communication from a control center to the electronic programmable key.

  • Publication number: 20160260271
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing redundant access control systems are disclosed. According to some embodiments of the invention, the systems and methods include a smart lock that provides redundant access control. The smart lock includes a button that has a plurality of redundant access channels for receiving authentication information. The redundant access channels may include a biometric scanner for receiving biometric information, a passcode keypad for entering a token, or a wireless transceiver for receiving a token from a mobile device and transmitting a response to the mobile device. When the user cannot open the lock through the first redundant access channel, the smart lock is configured to allow access through a second access channel. In some embodiments, the button is a freely rotating button that translates the rotational energy into electrical energy using, for example piezo elements, to energize a rechargeable power source, such as a capacitor bank.
