  • Publication number: 20230405983
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of food packaging, in particular food packaging. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a three/dimensional cellulose/based food packaging with excellent barrier properties. For example, the present invention relates to a cellulose-based, multilayer, three-dimensional food packaging comprising a bioplastic layer, a barrier paper layer and a moulded cellulose layer. This cellulose-based, multilayer, three-dimensional food packaging has an oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of less than 30 cc/m2/d (23° C., 50% RH) and a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of less than 20 g/m2/d (38° C., 90% RH).

  • Publication number: 20230365312
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of food packaging and packaged foods. In particular, the present invention relates to cellulose-based food packaging. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a food packaging comprising a thermoformed cellulose-based container element, a biodegradable lining inside the container element and a recyclable lid element, wherein the lid element comprises a multi-layer metallized paper-based packaging material comprising a paper layer, a pre metallization coating layer, a metallized layer, and at least one post metallization coating layer, wherein the post metallization coating layer comprises a post-metallization tie layer coating comprising an ethylene acrylic acid copolymer dispersion, or another polyolefin dispersion functionalized with methacrylic and/or carboxyl acid groups and wherein the container element has a shape adapted to the shape of the food to be packaged in the food packaging.

  • Patent number: 9969815
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a fibrillated cellulose powder suitable for being dispersed in an aqueous medium, comprising a step of adding a monovalent salt (e.g., sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and lithium chloride) to a fibrillated cellulose suspension, followed by a lyophilization step to provide the fibrillated cellulose powder. Also disclosed are a method of dispersing the fibrillated cellulose powder comprising the method for manufacturing with the further steps of suspending the fibrillated cellulose powder in an aqueous medium and subsequent dialysis of the suspension.

  • Publication number: 20160168696
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for forming a film-forming hydrophobic layer on a substrate, which method includes: fanning an aqueous suspension of cellulose nanofibers, CNF; forming, in water and with a water-immiscible solvent having an evaporation temperature below that of water, a cationic nanoemulsion of a substance forming covalent bonds with the cellulose; mixing the suspension and the nanoemulsion such as to produce a mixture resulting from an adsorption of said substance by the CNF; coating a substrate with said mixture; and proceeding to an annealing suitable for grafting said substance to the CNF.
