  • Patent number: 5378606
Abstract: The present invention concerns a Neisseria gonorrhoeae-specific nucleic acid probe which has at least one of the nucleic acid sequences shown in SEQ ID NO 1-15 as well as a method for the detection of the pathogenic Neisseria species N.gonorrhoeae using such a nucleic acid probe. The sequences shown in Sequence ID Nos. 1-15 correspond to or are complementary to partial regions of the 23S rRNA gene or to the spacer region located on the 3' side thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 15, 1993
Date of Patent: January 3, 1995
    Assignee: Boehringer Mannheim GmbH
    Inventors: Anne Stern, Karin Wolff
  • Patent number: 5173401
Abstract: An oligonucleotide probe specific for Neisseria gonorrhoeae is selected from the oligonucleotides RS2* and RS3*, RS2** and RS3**. It can have further nucleotides at its 5' end and/or 3' end. This probe is suitable for the specific detection of nucleic acids of the pathogenic species N. gonorrhoeae by hybrid formation under hybridization conditions.

  • Patent number: 5162199
Abstract: A Neisseria-specific DNA probe is chosen from the group of the oligonucleotides Opa 1, Opa 2, Opa 3, P III, Pil 1, IgA 1 and IgA 2 or from sequences complementary to these and it can have up to 5 further nucleotides at the 5' and/or 3' end. The probe is suitable for the detection of at least one of the pathogenic Neisseria species N. gonorrhoeae and N. meningitidis under hybridization conditions by the detection of the hybrid formation.
