The sequences shown in Sequence ID Nos. 1-15 correspond to or are complementary to partial regions of the 23S rRNA gene or to the spacer region located on the 3' side thereof.

The probe is suitable for the detection of at least one of the pathogenic Neisseria species N. gonorrhoeae and N. meningitidis under hybridization conditions by the detection of the hybrid formation.
