  • Patent number: 10371846
Abstract: One or more portions of a streamer or other equipment of a seismic survey system (e.g., birds, buoys, deflectors, etc.) are covered with protective removable skin sections. A protective removable skin section includes a flexible sheet and a reversible closure system configured to join edges of the flexible sheet. The protective removable skin section may be mounted onboard of a vessel, when the equipment is deployed.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 6, 2019
    Assignee: CGG SERVICES SAS
    Inventors: Raphael MacQuin, Karine Desrues
  • Patent number: 10120087
Abstract: A marine source element is configured to generate seismic waves. The source element includes a body and a source actuator attached to the body and configured to generate the seismic waves. The body is autonomous from a vessel towing streamers along a pre-plot line associated with a seismic survey.

Date of Patent: November 6, 2018
    Assignee: CGG SERVICES SAS
Inventors: Herve Richer De Forges, Karine Desrues, Risto Siliqi
  • Patent number: 9835745
Abstract: Presented are methods and systems for collecting marine seismic data. The collected seismic data can be low frequency (e.g., less than 10 Hz) or it can be a full seismic bandwidth (1-200 Hz) depending on if the low frequency tuned sources and tuned receivers are combined with conventional sources and receivers. The low frequency sources can be towed or they can be autonomous and positioned in the survey area by tether, drifting or self-propelled. The tuned low frequency receivers are towed at a depth greater than conventional receivers and the sources can be fired independently or simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 9791581
Abstract: A marine streamer spread for acquiring seismic data, the spread including a streamer having a first portion and a second portion; the first portion including both first pressure sensors and pressure derivative sensors for acquiring the seismic data; and the second portion including second pressure sensors. The first portion imparts ghost diversity to the seismic data by having a variable-depth profile and the pressure derivative sensors impart polarity diversity to the seismic data.

  • Patent number: 9377560
Abstract: Various methods preserve or restore the low roughness throughout an outer shell of a device (e.g., a streamer) used underwater for seismic surveys, by applying various substances that fill micro-cracks, are easy to polish or are self-healing. Apparatuses used to implement these methods may be used shortly before the devices are deployed in water, for example, having the device passing through such an apparatus as it is moved to be deployed in water.

  • Publication number: 20150085603
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining the far field signature of a source in wide azimuth surveys are disclosed. The method includes determining a position of a first sensor and a source. The first sensor is attached to a first vessel and the source is attached to a second vessel. The method further includes calculating a reflected incidence angle between the first sensor and the source, determining a position for a second sensor based on a direct incidence angle between the second sensor and the source approximating the direct incidence angle. The method also includes determining a far field signature for the source based on the direct incidence angle.
