Patent number: 4838006Abstract: A spacer for use between curved panes of a multiple-pane window in the door or in another part of a motor vehicle has an inverted U-shaped solid section and a straight hollow section with an internal space for a supply of desiccant and with one or more openings establishing communication between such space and the compartment which is surrounded by the frame and is flanked by the panes. The end portions of the solid section have studs which are sealingly received in sockets provided in the corresponding end portions of the hollow section. Portions of the solid section are bent to conform to the curvature of the panes. The cross-sectional outline of the hollow section can match that of the solid section.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1987Date of Patent: June 13, 1989Assignee: Julius & August Erbsloh GmbH & Co.Inventor: Karl Grosch

Patent number: 4720950Abstract: Elbows in tubular blanks which are filled with a desiccant are formed by clamping a blank at one side of the intended locus of the elbow, by bending the blank at the other side of the intended locus of the elbow relative to the clamped portion of the blank, by propping the blank in the region of the inner wall of the developing elbow, and by plasticizing the material of the blank in the region of the outer wall of the developing elbow so that the material of such outer wall is less likely to exhibit cracks and/or to burst as a result of bending of the blank.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1986Date of Patent: January 26, 1988Assignee: Franz Xaver Bayer IsolierglasfabrikInventors: Franz Bayer, Karl Grosch

Patent number: 4281702Abstract: A pneumatic radial tire for trucks which exhibits high dimensional stability, satisfactory behavior in running in a rectilinear course, has particularly high resistance to shoulder wear and exhibits a satisfactory drainage effect.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1978Date of Patent: August 4, 1981Assignee: Uniroyal Engelbert Reifen GmbHInventors: Karl A. Grosch, Paul H. Moitzheim, Gert Schloesser, Daniel J. M. Hensgens

Patent number: 4227563Abstract: A heavy duty pneumatic tire is provided with bead cores of symmetrical or asymmetrical polygonal cross-sectional. Extending radially outwardly therefrom are apex strips of a hard rubber compound which contact the bead cores along their radially outwardly oriented faces. The apex strips have a width at least as great as the width of the bead cores measured in a selected direction, and have a height of not more than 1.5 times the width of the bead cores. The terminal ends of turnups formed by wrapping a carcass ply radially about the bead cores, and reinforcement strips are enveloped in cushion elements of a rubber material which are softer than the carcass ply and the apex strips. The apex strips have a markedly compact shape cross sectionally and form with the bead cores, rigid units through which stresses occurring in the carcass during tire operation can be transferred.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1978Date of Patent: October 14, 1980Assignee: Uniroyal GmbHInventors: Karl Grosch, Paul Moitzheim, Gert Schloesser

Patent number: 4216814Abstract: A heavy duty pneumatic tire is provided with bead cores having polygonal cross-sectional configurations. The bead cores are composed of a multiplicity of wires arranged in densely superpositioned parallel layers which are situated on conical generating lines whose common axis coincide with the horizontal axis of the pneumatic tire and whose angles of opening are approximately 10.degree.. The axially innermost and axially outermost wires in specified radially inner and radially outer layers lie on centerlines forming angles within selected ranges with the conical lines.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1978Date of Patent: August 12, 1980Assignee: Uniroyal GmbHInventors: Karl A. Grosch, Henri J. Mirtain, Andre M. Devienne, Jean Trzepaez

Patent number: 4212340Abstract: A radial carcass pneumatic tire having a carcass ply turn-up portion includes a reinforcement ply folded around each bead ring. Each reinforcement ply overlaps and extends beyond the turn-up edge of the carcass play and includes for example a steel cord portion of thick cross-section abutting a textile cord portion of thinner cross section. The cords throughout the reinforcement ply are arranged obliquely with the cords of the radial carcass ply. In other respective embodiments a transition zone between the thick and thin portions of the reinforcement ply includes a cover strip, an overlapping portion and a filler strip. The bead reinforcement constructions reduce bead element edge separations and provide a desirable graduated stiffness from the bead to the beginning area of the sidewall permitting optimal transferring of torque and force.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1977Date of Patent: July 15, 1980Inventors: Sjirk van der Burg, Karl A. Grosch, Marcel J. Bertrand

Patent number: 4183389Abstract: A heavy duty pneumatic tire includes a carcass having a crown region and a tread portion surrounding the crown region. A reinforcement belt is disposed circumferentially about the crown region between the carcass and the tread. The reinforcement belt includes a first ply of tire cord fabric with two free lateral edge portions folded over upon itself to form two skirts and a main portion. The cords in the first ply are steel and lie at an angle of from about 16.degree. to about 32.degree. with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire. A second ply of tire cord fabric is superimposed upon the first ply. The cords in the second ply are of textile composition and are disposed at an angle of substantially 0.degree. with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire. The second ply fetters or restrains the first ply onto the carcass and imparts to the carcass a substantially flat cross-sectional configuration in the crown region.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1978Date of Patent: January 15, 1980Assignee: Uniroyal GmbHInventor: Karl A.
