  • Publication number: 20030093383
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for electronic franking wherein the customer is provided with an authenticable code which may be written or otherwise printed on a mail piece or mail piece. Given the authentic nature of the code, the code may be provided remotely. The code may be linked to a delivery address, the relationship later verified. Alternatively, the code may be the result of applying a precode and date of purchase to an algorithm thereby producing a resulting code. The resulting code can be easily verified. The algorithm is complex and difficult to reverse engineer, including an encryption algorithm.

  • Publication number: 20030021813
Abstract: Essential bacteria genes and a method for identifying ‘essential genes’ (i.e., genes which are essential to a bacterium's survival) using an in vitro transposition system, a small (975 bp) insertional element containing an antibiotic resistance cassette and mapping these inserts relative to the deduced open reading frames of H. influenzae by PCR and Southern analysis.

  • Publication number: 20020171259
Abstract: The bra, or protective cover, fits over the front-facing panel of a trailer. Trailers have a line of trim around the circumference of the front-facing panel, and the fixing means for the trailer-bra is incorporated into the trim. The (detachable) fixing means comprises posts inserted in place of the trim fixing screws, or comprises tapes of Velcro, aligned alongside the trim. The trailer-bra is thereby fixed immovably to the panel, and does not tend to nib or scuff the panel.

  • Publication number: 20020128924
Abstract: Method of ordering and dispatching articles An electronically transmitted purchase order is registered at an online provider (2). He then sends an order with data for a code relating to the purchase order electronically to a corresponding manufacturer or supplier (3). Following the production and/or provision of the ordered articles in neutral packaging (3.1) provided with the code, they are dispatched to a service center (6). Furthermore, the online provider (2) sends an electronic instruction to print corresponding labels with the recipient address and, if required, an invoice, a delivery note and letters and information documents in the online provider layout, with the digital data needed for this purpose and data for the code, to a print center (4) of the service center (6). In the service center (6), the articles and the printed-out documents are put together in accordance with the code and, after preparation for dispatch, are sent to the purchaser as packages (6.1) in the online provider layout.

  • Patent number: 5538138
Abstract: A method for sorting items provided with address information includes passing the items successively through a scanning device for generating a video image of each item, a mechanical storage track and a printing station. The video images are supplied to a device for automatically reading the address information and assigning a corresponding code. The printing station prints the corresponding code on the items for which the address information can be read within a predetermined time. The video images of the items for which the address information cannot be automatically read within the predetermined time is stored in a buffer.

  • Patent number: 5157079
Abstract: The invention is directed to a process for preparing a sealant and adhesive useful, e.g., in double glazing systems. The sealant comprises 20-80 weight percent epoxidized natural rubber, 5-30 weight percent of at least one further epoxy compound, and, as a crosslinking agent, a polyamine or polymercaptan carrying trialkoxysilyl groups. The crosslinking agent is incorporated into the epoxidized natural rubber in one step.

  • Patent number: 4517133
Abstract: Sulfonyl isocyanates having the formula R--SO.sub.2 --NCO (wherein R is a C.sub.1 - to C.sub.18 - alkyl radical, a phenyl radical, a C.sub.1 - to C.sub.18 - alkyl phenyl radical or an isocayanate group) are obtained in high yield and excellent purity by reaction of the corresponding sulfonyl chlorides R--SO.sub.2 --Cl with trimethyl silyl isocynate in the presence of catalytic amounts of Lewis acids. The preferred Lewis acids are halides having the formula AX.sub.n (A=B, Al, Ti, Sn, V, Sb, Fe or Zn; n=valence of A).
