  • Patent number: 7450984
Abstract: A local coil arrangement for a magnetic resonance system has an antenna arrangement that is arranged in a retainer structure. The retainer structure has a waistband and a perineum element. A person to be examined dons the local coil arrangement like trousers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 15, 2003
Date of Patent: November 11, 2008
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Karl Engelhard, Rainer Kuth, Arne Reykowski
  • Patent number: 7014643
Abstract: A device for MR-guided endorectal prostate biopsy has a biopsy guidance device connected to an MR system that is secured to the patient support table, and is alignable via the MR system for alignment and guidance of the biopsy needle into a preselectable target area. The biopsy guidance device contains MR-imaging markers and is provided with a trajectory setting mechanism at which the previously selected and calculated trajectory can be set.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 7, 2002
Date of Patent: March 21, 2006

  • Publication number: 20030100828
Abstract: In a method for minimally invasive treatment of prostate cancer, a patient with a prostate pathology is subjected to a magnetic resonance-guided biopsy procedure, and a rapid histology is performed on the biopsy sample. If the histology result is positive, the patient is then subjected to a magnetic resonance-guided injection of a therapeutic agent. Since the therapeutic agent is administered during observation of the patient during magnetic resonance, it can be ascertained if and when the administered therapeutic agent fully spreads to cover the pathological region or volume. After an appropriate waiting time the patient is examined in a follow-up examination and appropriate further treatment, if any, is determined based on this follow-up examination.
