Patent number: 6231304Abstract: An outlet device for a flow machine, comprising a channel for a flow from the machine and a guide vane arrangement provided downstream of the channel and connecting the channel with an outlet housing. The guide vane arrangement is arranged to redirect outwardly a first part flow of the flow from the channel into the first chamber of the outlet housing. The outlet device comprises at least one bypass channel extending from the channel through the guide vane arrangement and arranged to guide a second part flow of the flow to bypass the guide vane arrangement to a second chamber of the outlet housing.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2000Date of Patent: May 15, 2001Assignee: ABB Stal ABInventor: Karl-Erik Andersson

Patent number: 6157845Abstract: A method and device are provided for of supporting a plurality of mobile station operation modes in a wireless communication system by user control. Presently, communication protocols exist for supporting end user equipment which operates in a single mode of operation. However, it is desirable to combine protocols from various technologies to form end user equipment which operates in multiple modes of operation. Thereby, the present method allows the mobile station to operate in a multi-mode environment where a user can invoke a certain mode.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1998Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventors: Raymond C. Henry, Alan E. Sicher, Karl-Erik Andersson, John Diachina, Lars Bilstrom, Steven Prokup

Patent number: 5818829Abstract: A method for increasing throughput capacity of a mobile station transmitting a plurality of consecutive bursts to a base station in a communication system is disclosed. The first burst is transmitted using a normal burst format while succeeding consecutive bursts are transmitted using an auxiliary burst format wherein the auxiliary bursts contain larger data fields than normal bursts.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1995Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventors: Alex Krister Raith, Lars Bilstrom, Raymond C. Henry, John Diachina, Karl-Erik Andersson, Steven Prokup, Alan Eric Sicher

Patent number: 5806007Abstract: A method and device are provided for controlling an activity mode of a mobile station after the system has originated or terminated a transaction with the mobile station. The activity mode corresponds to whether the mobile station stays "awake" or goes into a sleep mode, which must be made known to the system. If the mobile station does not immediately go to the sleep mode, the base station can expect the mobile station to be reading all slots. If the mobile station is in the sleep mode, the mobile station only reads its assigned paging slots. The mobile station may not go to the sleep mode until a selected amount of activity time has expired; during the activity time, the mobile station continues to read all slots. As a result, the mobile station can immediately receive packets, thereby saving set-up time which increases the response time of the mobile station.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1995Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventors: Alex Krister Raith, Lars Bilstrom, John Diachina, Raymond C. Henry, Karl-Erik Andersson

Patent number: 5768267Abstract: A method for registering a mobile station when the mobile station first enters a communication system which supports packet data channels is disclosed. The mobile station receives system information broadcasted on a digital control channel. The mobile station is then assigned to a beacon packet data channel over which the mobile station registers with the communication system.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1995Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventors: Alex Krister Raith, John Diachina, Raymond C. Patent number: 5755166Abstract: In a power plant with combustion of particulate fuel in a fluidized bed, unburnt particles are after-burnt in a burner which is based on the principle of vortex collapse and coarser particles are separated in connection with the after-burning. Such a burner may be designed as a double-cone burner, wherein unburnt fuel particles are burnt. Larger particles move around in a helical movement inside the extension of the burner cone. A coarse particles separator integrated with the burner, is arranged and comprises a circular gap which is located near the extension of the burner cone and which collects coarser particles rotating at the side of the combustion zone of the burner. These separated particles, collected by the circular gap, are forwarded to a space which surrounds the burner and from where the separated coarser particles are returned to the primary combustion space, for example, to the fluidized bed in the plant.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1996Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Assignee: ABB Carbon ABInventor: Karl-Erik Andersson

Patent number: 5729531Abstract: A method for reassigning mobile stations a new phase within a channel is disclosed. In a communication system, a plurality of mobile stations attempt to communicate on a limited number of channels. The invention first uses a general allocation method to approximately evenly distribute the mobile stations on the available channels. After a mobile station begins active communication on the system, a second allocation method is used to change the phase of some mobile stations on a channel which has become heavily loaded. In addition, a message can also be sent to mobile stations assigned to but not yet actively communicating on the heavily loaded channel indicating that the mobile stations should change to a new channel.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1995Date of Patent: March 17, 1998Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventors: Alex Krister Raith, Alan Eric Sicher, Lars Billstrom, John Diachina, Raymond C. Henry, Karl-Erik Andersson, Steven Prokup

Patent number: 4934407Abstract: A manifold receives gas streams from a plurality of gas purifiers arranged in parallel. The manifold comprises a plurality of pipe portions wiht a successively increasing diameter forming a main channel in the manifold. A first pipe portion projects into a second pipe portion, whereby, in the gap between the pipe portions a connection channel is formed which is substantially parallel to the main channel. The second pipe portion projects into a third pipe portion, thus forming a gap between the pipe portions and so on. Outlet tube portion from cyclones are connected to the connection channels.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1989Date of Patent: June 19, 1990Assignee: ABB Stal ABInventor: Karl-Erik Andersson
