Patent number: 6632570Abstract: A fibrous-structure electrode plate has a metal thickness which increases continuously towards the current discharge lug and the resultant low-loss current carrying. To produce the fibrous-structure electrode framework plates according to the invention, textile substrate can be reinforced by electrodeposition. For the subsequent use of the textile substrate which has been reinforced by electrodeposition as an electrode framework of fibrous structure, a diaphragm system is introduced into the electrodeposition bath between each anode and the premetallized web of a textile substrate which is to be reinforced by electrodeposition. In this way, it is possible to distribute the metal applied to the substrate, specifically without previously cutting the web to size.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2001Date of Patent: October 14, 2003Assignee: Deutsche Automobilgesellschaft mbHInventors: Otwin Imhof, Holger Kistrup, Karl-Ernst Noreikat

Patent number: 6428674Abstract: A process for the removal of galvanic electrolytic residues from galvanically reinforced fiber structure frames, where the fiber structure frame is produced through chemical metallization of a textile substrate based on fleeces or felts made of synthetic fibers and then through galvanic reinforcement of the metallized textile substrate in a galvanic bath containing a galvanic electrolyte. The invention provides that the galvanic electrolytic residues are removed by suction from the fiber structure frame. The fiber structure frame then makes contact at least once under high pressure with the wash liquid in a wash station, and subsequently the wash liquid is removed by suction from the fiber structure frame. In order to remove by suction, the galvanic electrolytic residues or the wash liquid, a belt-shaped porous supporting device is inserted between the suction port and a main area of the fiber structure frame.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2000Date of Patent: August 6, 2002Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Otwin Imhof, Holger Kistrup, Karl-Ernst Noreikat

Patent number: 6394209Abstract: A serial hybrid drive has an internal combustion engine, a generator coupled mechanically to the internal combustion engine, an energy store coupled electrically to the generator, and at least one electric drive motor electrically connected to the generator and the energy store. The internal combustion engine/generator unit is operated along an operating characteristic whose power corresponds to the temporally smoothed power requirement of the electric drive motor, and the internal combustion engine is always operated at or near full load. In such case, the energy store has an energy storage capacity of at most a few kilowatt hours and a high power density, and compensates for the short-term power differences between the instantaneous power requirement of the electric drive motor and the power output by the internal combustion engine/generator unit and corresponding to the temporally smoothed power requirement of the electric drive motor.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1997Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Markus Goehring, Adolf Kuenzer, Karl Ernst Noreikat

Patent number: 5794732Abstract: An apparatus and method for starting a vehicle which is driven by an electric drive unit supplied with electrical energy from a fuel cell. A compressor is arranged in the feed line of the fuel cell for the oxidant mass flow and is driven by an electric motor supplied with voltage from the fuel cell itself. For the purpose of starting the fuel cell, a starter motor is provided for driving the compressor which is fed from a 12 V starter battery. In addition, a safety interrogation is initiated before starting the vehicle. The fuel cell is not run up to a prescribed no-load power with the aid of the starter motor until successful termination of the safety interrogation. The drive unit is then released after this no-load power has been reached.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1996Date of Patent: August 18, 1998Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Helmut Lorenz, Karl-Ernst Noreikat, Thomas Klaiber, Wolfram Fleck, Josef Sonntag, Gerald Hornburg, Andreas Gaulhofer
