  • Patent number: 12011808
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a method for forming and using one or more workpiece securing devices to reduce the deflections and vibrations of the workpiece during machining, as well as the time and labor associated with machining multiple workpieces. The method includes depositing material onto a surface of a movable jaw of a vise to form a first jaw protrusion and depositing material onto a surface of a stationary jaw of the vise to form a second jaw protrusion. A workpiece can be secured between the first and second jaw protrusions and then can be machined.

  • Publication number: 20220297215
Abstract: A processing head assembly is disclosed. In some examples, the processing head assembly comprises a fabrication energy source; a wire feedstock surrounded by a shield and one or more filler feedstocks surrounded by one or more nozzles. In some examples, the fabrication energy source includes the wire feedstock surrounded by the shield. A method of depositing material on a substrate using a processing head assembly for use with a fabrication energy source; a wire feedstock surrounded by a shield and one or more filler feedstocks surrounded by one or more nozzles is disclosed. In some examples, the method comprises projecting a fabrication energy beam from the fabrication energy source onto the substrate at a spot, projecting the wire feedstock surrounded by the shield onto the substrate at the spot and projecting the one or more filler feedstocks surrounded by the one or more nozzles onto the substrate close to the spot.

  • Publication number: 20190270137
Abstract: In the area of rocket engines, regeneratively cooled rocket engines currently undergo long manufacturing time frames. This deters the speed of the development process resulting in a longer time to get to the market with a proven new design. There is a need to create methods that can manufacture regeneratively cooled rocket engines faster with a quick time to the market. This disclosure relates to faster methods for manufacturing regeneratively cooled rocket thrust chamber nozzles that use rocket propellant fluids to cool the chamber walls of the nozzle itself before being injected and burned. Furthermore, the new methods lead to enhanced designs that could enable reusable rocket engines by limiting overall fatigue with novel materials.
