  • Patent number: 4898725
Abstract: An aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic composition useful for washing or rinsing hair which contains a water-soluble ionic polymer and from about 0.1 to 20% by weight of a water soluble salt of a di- or tri-carboxylic acid containing from 6 to 44 carbon atoms. • Patent number: 4803068
Abstract: Hair-treatment preparations containing as additive at least one surface-active phosphonic acid corresponding to general formula I, II or III below ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents a C.sub.5 -C.sub.21 alkyl, R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or --PO.sub.3 H.sub.2, and R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, hydroxyl, or, if R.sup.2 is --PO.sub.3 H.sub.2, --NH.sub.2, and R.sup.4 represents hydrogen or a lower alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a water-soluble salt thereof, improved the wet combability of hair and reduce its tendency to develop static charges. Octane-1-phosphonic acid, decane-1-phosphonic acid and dodecane-1-phosphonic acid or their salts are particularly effective. The phophonic acids are used in quantities of from 0.05 to 10% by weight, and preferably in quantities of from 0.1 to 2.0% by weight together with anionic tensides.

  • Patent number: 4795632
Abstract: Preparations for washing or rinsing hair contain polyaldehydocarboxylic acids having an average molecular weight of from 600 to 10,000, a carboxyl group content of from 5 to 9 and preferably from 7 to 9 and an aldehyde group content of from 1 to 5 and preferably from 1 to 3 per 10 monomer units, or water-soluble salts thereof. These additives reduce the smoothness of dry hair and improve body and stylability after washing. The polyaldehydocarboxylic acids are preferably used in conjunction with hair-conditioning linear alkyl and/or alkylether phosphate salts, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl and/or aminoalkyl phosphonate salts. Preferred embodiments are hair shampoos containing from about 1 to about 10% by weight of the polyaldehydocarboxylic acids and from about 5 to about 50% by weight of anionic surfactants of the alkyl sulfate and/or alkylether sulfate type and hair rinses containing from about 1 to about 10% by weight of hair-conditioning alkyl and/or alkylether phosphate salts and/or alkane phosphonate salts.

  • Patent number: 4784801
Abstract: Aqueous hair treatment preparations containing as anionic surfactant an alkylether sulfonate corresponding to the following formulaR.sup.1 --O--(C.sub.n H.sub.2n O).sub.x --(CH.sub.2).sub.y --SO.sub.3 (-)M(+)in which R.sup.1 is a C.sub.8 -C.sub.18 alkyl group, n=2 or 3, x=0 to 20, y=1 to 3 and M(+) is an alkali metal ion. Alkylether sulfonates such as these show high foaming power, are easy to thicken and are stable to hydrolysis in acidic medium. They can be prepared by reaction of corresponding alkylether sulfates with sodium sulfite in aqueous solution and extraction from the reaction mixture with a saturated C.sub.4 -C.sub.6 alcohol.
