  • Patent number: 7893142
Abstract: A simple and economical process for the preparation of polyphosphates of organic bases consists of reacting a mixture of phosphorus pentoxide and at least one organic nitrogen base with at least one compound which releases water accompanied by decomposition under the prevailing conditions in such a molar ratio that upon decomposition of the water-releasing compound at most essentially 2 mol. water are produced per mol. phosphorus pentoxide. Thus-prepared polyphosphates are particularly suitable as flame-protection agents for plastics.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 7, 2007
Date of Patent: February 22, 2011
    Assignee: Chemische Fabrik Budenheim KG
Inventors: Karl Gotzmann, Liselotte Götzmann, legal representative, Hans-Dieter Nägerl, Thomas Futterer

  • Patent number: 7214811
Abstract: A derivative of phosphoric acid ester salt or adduct or a mixture thereof is obtained from a reaction product, polycondensed with at least one aldehyde, of at least one polyol phosphoric acid ester with at least one organic nitrogen base. The derivative is advantageously used as a flame-inhibiting and/or intumescent treatment in plastic mouldings, on porous carriers or in paint or coating systems. The production of the derivative or a mixture thereof by reacting at least one polyol with phosphorus pentoxide and reacting the polyol phosphoric acid ester obtained in that way with at least one organic nitrogen base forming a phosphoric acid ester salt or adduct, is characterized in that the amount of phosphorus pentoxide required for the esterification operation is suspended in an amount of the ester or ester mixture to be produced, then at a temperature in the range of 20–180° C.

  • Patent number: 6512133
Abstract: A process for the production of phosphoric acid esters or phosphoric acid ester mixtures of polyhydric alcohols by reaction of the polyhydric alcohols with phosphorus pentoxide is characterized in that the amount of phosphorus pentoxide which is required for the esterification operation is suspended in an amount of the ester or ester mixture to be produced, thereupon the amount of polyhydric alcohol required for the esterification operation and possibly water is added at a temperature in the range of between 20 and 180° C., thereupon the esterification reaction is substantially completely executed and thereafter the product is obtained. The products of the process are used for the production of flame-proofing treatments.

  • Patent number: 5665149
Abstract: An active heavy metal-free and non-toxic anti-corrosion pigment based on phosphate, which is particularly environmentally friendly, is a mixture of .beta.-tricalcium phosphate and tertiary magnesium phosphate or dicalcium phosphate dihydrate. It has good compatibility with the usual raw materials of paints and additives.

  • Patent number: 4018869
Abstract: A process for the purification of phosphoric acid containing cationic impurities is disclosed wherein there is added to a crude phosphoric acid an organic solvent miscible in all proportions with water and phosphoric acid and thereafter contacting the resulting solution with an inorganic material in aqueous or solid form to effect the preferential passage of the impurities of the crude phosphoric acid/organic solvent solution into an aqueous inorganic phase with phosphoric acid remaining in the organic solvent phase from which purified phosphoric acid is recovered by distillation of the organic solvent.
