  • Patent number: 4440537
Abstract: In a conveyor system for bulk materials used for loading and unloading large containers, and particularly ships, including a gantry, a boom pivotally mounted on the gantry, a vertically positioned leg extending from the boom and mounted to rotate relative to the boom and conveyor belt devices movably carried by the gantry, the boom and the leg for conveying the bulk materials, improvements are provided which are characterized by providing a simplified construction of the conveyor system allowing both loading and unloading operations and eliminating the necessity of plural conveyor belts by utilizing a single continuous conveyor belt, spaced guide mechanisms for the conveyor belt carried by the rotating leg and by the boom for allowing the conveyor belt to twist with rotation of the leg relative to the boom, and a motor for selectively driving the conveyor belt in forward and reverse directions for loading and unloading bulk material.

  • Patent number: 4425995
Abstract: A cover belt conveyor in which each of two conveyor belts have lateral corrugated edges or waved ridges of a substantially common height. The conveyor belts are mutually supported on the heads of the waved ridges to form a large conveying space therebetween. By the provision of interengaging profile knobs at the waved ridges which interengage like meshing teeth, engagement of the conveyor belts is maintained without the need for drums or rollers pressing the two belts against each other.

  • Patent number: 4273238
Abstract: A cover belt conveyor including a carrier belt and a cover belt entrained over respective return drums and having proximal runs defining a conveyor path therebetween. The belts have closure strips with a periodic wave form defining wave ridges thereon and profile knobs arranged in longitudinal rows which contact one another to aid in maintaining the closure strips of one belt in a desired relation to the closure strips of the other belt during movement of the belts along the conveyor path.

  • Patent number: 4227610
Abstract: A curved belt conveyor having a generally planar ring shaped belt supported and guided for movement along a closed path of travel having first and second generally parallel, spaced apart runs with an inner peripheral edge of the belt substantially defining an arc of the circle about a predetermined center. In accordance with the present invention, the inner peripheral edge of the belt is engaged by a plurality of guide rollers, each of which is mounted for individual independent movement radially of the arc described by the inner peripheral edge. The rollers are resiliently biased radially outwardly against the edge of the belt.

  • Patent number: 4185737
Abstract: An annular curve conveyor belt includes a plurality of sector-shaped pieces, the main direction of the inlay or inlays of which extends at right angles to a radial beam of the piece. In one embodiment, the pieces are arranged side by side in one layer with complementary zig-zag side edges in a bonded butt joint in the radial direction. In another embodiment, the pieces are arranged in two overlapping layers with the side edges of each piece extending obliquely to the radial direction. A method of producing the curve conveyor belt includes cutting the pieces from a conventional straight belt body at such an orientation that a radial beam of each piece extends at right angles to the main direction of tension and assembling and joining the pieces. Apparatus for performing this method is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 3939965
Abstract: An endless conveyor belt for the conveying of separate articles or packages to be conveyed along a steep incline. The belt is formed with spaced, resilient flaps which extend upwardly from the load supporting surface to engage the conveyed article. If the article slides backwardly on the belt, the flap bends and pivots upwardly so that a roughened surface will tend to retard the sliding movement. After the article is removed, the flap is restored to a position within a recess in the belt surface during the return run.
