  • Patent number: 4344930
Abstract: A hydrophilic open-celled poly (urea/urethane) sponge derived from a prepolymer produced by the reaction of a polyoxyalkylene polyol with a stoichiometric excess of an organic polysocyanate, said sponge containing substantially uniformly distributed throughout the pores thereof a readily releasable skin care composition and methods of making same and using same for treating skin.It has of course long been known to treat the skin for various purposes by applying thereto a skin care composition, such application being commonly effected by first impregnating an absorbent fibrous pad or sponge applicator with the composition, or supplying a quantity of such composition to the surface of the pad or sponge applicator, and then transferring said composition to the skin by wiping and rubbing same with the applicator.

  • Patent number: 4242377
Abstract: Fabrics, such as those in laundry items, are softened and their tendency to accumulate static charges is lessened by application to them of a foam which includes a foaming agent, a fabric conditioner, to improve fabric softness and/or to diminish static, a normally gaseous propellant and water, after which application the laundry is tumbled, preferably in a dryer. The foam thereby becomes spread over the fabric surfaces, conditioning the laundry during a drying operation. In some products a single material may be both foaming agent and conditioner. In other formulations a foam stabilizer will be incorporated to aid the foaming agent in making a more useful foam.In preferred embodiments of the invention, the conditioning composition is a liquid held under its own pressure in a dispensing container and is discharged from it as a stable foam onto the material to be conditioned, which is in a laundry dryer.

  • Patent number: 4127515
Abstract: A hydrophilic flexible open-celled poly (urea/urethane) sponge derived from prepolymer produced by reaction of a polyoxyalkylene polyol with a stoichiometric excess of an organic polyisocyanate, said sponge containing uniformly distributed therethrough a readily releasable wax composition, and methods of making and using same for waxing surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3987792
Abstract: A disposable diaper comprising in order:A water-pervious layer;A spongy, resilient and compressible hydrophobic fibrous layer; An absorbent core; andA water impervious layer,Wherein said hydrophobic fibrous layer has a density of from about 0.01gm/cc to 0.03gm/cc and comprises non-woven, hydrophobic fibers having an average length of from about 1/4 in. to 31/2 , said fibers being bonded together at at least a substantial number of their points of contact. The hydrophobic fibrous layer is pervious to fluids in the uncompressed condition; however, when compressed, as by the bodily weight of an infant clothed with the diaper, the layer becomes impervious to fluids, the compressed fibers intermeshing to form a seal or barrier.
