  • Patent number: 7527506
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are provided of EMI shielding/electrical grounding members configured to be installed to a substrate for interposition between electrically-conductive surfaces, for establishing electrical grounding contact from the substrate to the electrically-conductive surfaces. In one exemplary embodiment, an EMI shielding/electrical grounding member generally includes first and second generally opposing sides hingedly connected and having respective first and second contact faces configured such that the first and second contact faces are each relatively independently operable and freely compressible upon contact with the respective first and second electrically-conductive surfaces, regardless of whether the other of said first and second contact faces is in contact with the corresponding first or second electrically-conductive surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 2, 2008
Date of Patent: May 5, 2009
Assignees: Laird Technologies, Inc., Dell Products L.P.
    Inventors: Shelby Ball, Karl Hamand

  • Patent number: 7324349
Abstract: A modular component coupling apparatus includes a chassis and a plurality of guide members mounted in the chassis which define a component channel, the plurality of guide members each including a first end and a second end, the second end including a component securing member adjacent the component channel. A modular component may be coupled to the chassis by engaging the component rear securing member such that vibrations in the modular component are reduced relative to a conventional coupling apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7258560
Abstract: A spring-loaded assembly for coupling a connector to a computer component includes an assembly housing operable to receive a portion of a screw used to couple the connector to a chassis of an information handling system. The assembly further includes a sliding block disposed in the assembly housing and operably engaged with the screw. The sliding block is operable to move the connector between a first position and a second position. The assembly further includes a spring placed between the sliding block and at least one wall of the assembly housing. The spring operably provides an axial force to bias the connector to a first position, whereby coupling the connector to the computer component causes the connector to move to a connected position intermediate the first and second position.

  • Publication number: 20050239309
Abstract: A spring-loaded assembly for a connector is disclosed. In one aspect, the present disclosure teaches a spring-loaded assembly for coupling a connector to a computer component includes an assembly housing operable to receive a portion of a screw used to couple the connector to a chassis of an information handling system. The assembly further includes a sliding block disposed in the assembly housing and operably engaged with the screw. The sliding block is operable to move the connector between a first position and a second position.
