  • Patent number: 6020386
Abstract: Hydroxyfunctional compounds suitable for use in the polyisocyanate polyaddition process are obtained from polyurethane and/or polyurethane polyurea waste by decomposition with an alcohol and subsequent reaction of the alcoholysis products to reduce their content of low molecular weight, sterically unhindered aromatic amines. In this process, polyurethane and/or polyurethane polyurea waste is first treated with a low molecular weight diol or polyol at a temperature of from about 160 to 260.degree. C. The resultant alcoholysis product may then either be further heated at a temperature lower than that used in the first step within the ranger of from about 50 to 180.degree. C. or reacted with a dialkyl carbonate and/or 1,3-dicarbonyl compound.

  • Patent number: 5504179
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a RIM process wherein an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer is reacted with one or more isocyanate-reactive components which contian inorganic fillers. The improvement resides in including an acidc group containing compound with the isocyanate reactive components.

  • Patent number: 5338763
Abstract: Compounds containing alcoholic hydroxyl groups suitable as a starting material for the isocyanate polyaddition process by the alcoholysis of polyisocyanate polyaddition products are produced. Polyurethane urea or polyurea waste products having a molar ratio of urea groups to urethane groups of from 1:20 to 1:0 are heated in size reduced form to temperatures of from 120.degree. to 250.degree. C. together with B) polyhyhdric alcohols in the molecular weight range of from 62 to 250 in a ratio by weight of A:B of from 3:1 to 1:10. At least 10% of the polyhydric alcohol B put into the process is subsequently removed by distillation under reduced pressure. A total of up to 1000% by weight, based on the weight of polyurethane urea or polyurea waste A, of one or more polyhydroxy compounds having a molecular weight above 250 which is (are) not volatile under the distillation conditions may optionally be added to the mixture before and/or after removal of the excess alcohol B by distillation.

  • Patent number: 5179146
Abstract: Modified polyisocyanates having an NCO group content of from 10 to 45% by weight, comprising a a) a polyisocyanate component consisting essentially of an organic polyisocyanate having an NCO group content of from 15 to 50% by weight which is liquid at room temperature, and b) 2 to 100% by weight, based on the weight of component a), of a polymer modifier consisting of at least one graft rubber which is dispersed in swollen form in component a), and a process for the production of the new modified polyisocyanates are described. The modified polyisocyanates are also useful in the production of plastics by the isocyanate polyaddition process.

  • Patent number: 4077245
Abstract: A production line wherein extremely heavy and bulky commodities, such as metallic bands which are convoluted on reels and weigh up to and in excess of 20,000 lbs., are treated at several stations is provided with a first magazine at the receiving end, a second magazine at the discharge end and an intermediate magazine between two neighboring departments. The commodities are transported in the magazines by vehicles which are movable lengthwise as well as up and down to store the commodities at different levels or to withdraw commodities from selected compartments of the respective magazines. Additional vehicles in the form of cars, lifters, cranes or the like are provided to transport commodities from a preceding magazine, to stations which are adjacent to various machines of the production line, and from such machines to the next magazine, always at a level above or below the level of the production line.
