  • Patent number: 6192597
Abstract: Device for treating a fibrous pulp web that includes at least one support face, which is one of moving and stationary. The fibrous pulp web may be guided over the at least one support face. The device also includes at least one sealing device positioned on a side of the fibrous pulp web facing away from the at least one support face to strip at least a majority of a bordering air layer that entrained by the fibrous pulp web. The at least one sealing device may include a sealing disc that is one of substantially straight and at least partially curved, and that is at least one of elastically formed and resiliently mounted.

  • Patent number: 5515619
Abstract: In a papermaking machine, the drying section includes a vacuum based system which serves to guide the web and supporting felt (15) from a first drying cylinder (11) to a transfer vacuum roller (10), which has perforations (13) through which a vacuum is communicated into the interior of the roller 10 from of an external suction box (14). The suction box (14) includes lengthwise extending sealing strips (28, 29) located adjacent and bounding the free circumferential surface of the transfer roller (10), which is not overlapped by the felt of the drying section. The sealing strips extend from the suction box 14 to the roller mantel (10a) of the roller 10. These strips are further designed in the style of a doctor blade and are flexibly mounted on the suction box (14) so that they are flexible and biased against the roller 10 by spring action. They extend approximately tangentially to the surface of the roller mantel (10a), contacting it gently.

  • Patent number: 5267702
Abstract: A device for winding and unwinding cables onto a cable drum (9) includes a portal-like supporting frame (1) and bracket arms (4) suspended from it. The bracket arms (4) are adjustable in length, and the distance between the bracket arms (4) is also adjustable. Rotatable spindle pins (8) are carried at the lower ends of the bracket arms (4). The bracket arms (4) are configured to be freely resilient in the longitudinal direction, and furthermore the spindle pins (8) are held at the bracket arms (4) so as to be movable transversely thereto. As a result, insertion of the spindle pins (8) into receiving openings in the cable drums is facilitated so that automatic operation is possible practically without malfunction even if there are dimensional errors in the receiving openings of the cable drums.

  • Patent number: 5200974
Abstract: An electrode carrier arm for an electric arc furnace consists of an arm part (10) and of a electrode-clamping device and is produced so as to be current carrying from a material of high conductivity. Between the arm part and the electrode-clamping device there is a flanged connection consisting of flanged plates (11, 12) which limit a cooling-liquid cavity (20, 29) on both sides and which themselves contain passage orifices (21) for the cooling liquid from one cooling-liquid cavity to the other. This allows an effective cooling of the flanged plates and consequently a direct supply of current via the flanged connection when the carrier arm is produced from light metal.

  • Patent number: 4680774
Abstract: To suppress quantitizing ambiguities upon digital transmission of an analog signal, a random access memory (RAM) (13) is connected at the end terminal of a digital transmission line, and has its output connected to an adder stage (15). The adder stage adds the digital value of +1 to the output from the RAM (13). The value of the digitized data word, incremented by +1, is then compared in a subsequent interrogation cycle of the value at the input to the memory and only if the deviation is greater than .+-.1, a comparator, effecting the comparison, provides a "store" signal for transfer of the new value to the RAM (13). The D/A converters, only then, are changed to provide a changed output analog signal.

  • Patent number: 4548346
Abstract: A first succession of workpieces is displaced along a first conveyor path past a work station in steps and a second succession of workpieces is displaced past the work station in steps synchronously with the first succession along a second conveyor path crossing the first path at an intersection adjacent the work station. The workpieces of the first and second successions are alternately arrested adjacent the work station so that as a workpiece of one succession is arrested adjacent the station the workpieces of the other succession are moving and vice versa. A tool at the station works alternately on the arrested workpieces. Thus as a workpiece of one succession is being held stationary and worked on a workpiece of the other succession is being removed from adjacent the station and replaced with the following workpiece of the other succession. The workpieces are transported horizontally generally at the same level and the paths cross at the intersection generally at a right angle.

  • Patent number: 4494678
Abstract: A system is disclosed which allows a container and material to be weighed in the presence of a pressurized gas and reduces the effects on that weighing caused by variations in the gas flow and pressure. The system includes a container which receives material to be weighed and a structure for discharging material from the system. The container is mounted on a scale for providing weight readings and flexibly coupled by at least one inlet to provide a pressurized gas to the container which isolates gas flow and pressure effects transmitted to the container.

  • Patent number: 4331992
Abstract: In order to eliminate crosstalk between adjacent playback and recording heads in a multi-track, multi-head magnetic tape recorder or playback apparatus, the invention provides for tapping off part of the recording current and suitably adjusting its amplitude and/or phase to define a correction current which is applied to the playback head of the apparatus. The voltage resulting from the correction current exactly compensates the voltage induced by the stray magnetic field of the recording head. The correction circuit includes frequency-dependent components which account for the frequency dependence of the crosstalk signals.
